Bug#740126: qtcreator: fails to find qtcreator docs
Package: qtcreator Followup-For: Bug #740126 Dear Maintainer, I just installed qtcreator initially with no help files as I have aptitude set to not automatically install recommended packages. I then installed the qtcreator-doc and qt5-doc packages plus the qttools5-dev-tools package and restarted qtcreator. I found the help contents was still blank and the qtcreator help system loaded a link into the default web browser instead. I found via a Web search the method to associate the help files manually as did the originator of this report. After manually adding the files the help contents is now populated correctly. Does qtcreator have a system-wide help registration that is not run when new documentation is added? -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages qtcreator depends on: ii libbotan-1.10-0 1.10.8-2 ii libc62.19-13 ii libgcc1 1:4.9.2-4 ii libqt5concurrent55.3.2+dfsg-4+b1 ii libqt5core5a [qtbase-abi-5-3-2] 5.3.2+dfsg-4+b1 ii libqt5declarative5 [qtquick1-abi-5-2-1] 5.3.2-3 ii libqt5designer5 5.3.2-3 ii libqt5designercomponents55.3.2-3 ii libqt5gui5 5.3.2+dfsg-4+b1 ii libqt5help5 5.3.2-3 ii libqt5network5 5.3.2+dfsg-4+b1 ii libqt5printsupport5 5.3.2+dfsg-4+b1 ii libqt5qml5 [qtdeclarative-abi-5-3-2] 5.3.2-4 ii libqt5quick5 5.3.2-4 ii libqt5script55.3.2+dfsg-2 ii libqt5sql5 5.3.2+dfsg-4+b1 ii libqt5sql5-sqlite5.3.2+dfsg-4+b1 ii libqt5webkit55.3.2+dfsg-3 ii libqt5widgets5 5.3.2+dfsg-4+b1 ii libqt5x11extras5 5.3.2-2 ii libqt5xml5 5.3.2+dfsg-4+b1 ii libstdc++6 4.9.2-4 ii libx11-6 2:1.6.2-3 ii qml-module-qtquick-controls 5.3.2-2 ii qml-module-qtquick2 5.3.2-4 ii qtchooser47-gd2b7997-2 ii qtcreator-data 3.2.1+dfsg-7 Versions of packages qtcreator recommends: ii gdb 7.7.1+dfsg-5 ii make 4.0-8 ii qt5-doc 5.3.2-3 pn qtbase5-dev-tools none ii qtcreator-doc 3.2.1+dfsg-7 pn qtdeclarative5-dev-tools none pn qtquick1-5-dev-tools none ii qttools5-dev-tools5.3.2-3 pn qttranslations5-l10n none pn qtxmlpatterns5-dev-tools none ii xfce4-terminal [x-terminal-emulator] 0.6.3-1+b1 ii xterm [x-terminal-emulator] 312-1 Versions of packages qtcreator suggests: pn cmake none ii g++4:4.9.2-1 ii git1:2.1.3-1 pn kdelibs5-data none pn subversion none -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. You seem to be correct. Qt Creator's help does not appear to be registered properly. When I start Qt Creator with a new user, the help file in /usr/share/doc/qtcreator.qch which can be added in, Tools - Options ... - Help tab - Documentation - Add ... does not appear to be registered. But Qt Help files seem to be there at least there. I'll look into it. Debian's Qt Creator should definitely find its own help file (sadly, this is most likely too late to fix for Debian Jessie) - Adam -- Adam Majer ad...@zombino.com -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Package: qtcreator Version: 2.8.1-3 Severity: normal Tags: d-i Dear Maintainer, Launching qtcreator and clicking the help button results in an error saying it can't find the qtcreator documentation. Choosing any qtcreator-related subject in the introduction page results in the same error. Does not affect other installed documentation from qt-sdk. Workaround: Register the documentation manually using Tools - Help - Documentation. Bug#740126: qtcreator: fails to find qtcreator docs
tag 740126 upstream thanks On Wednesday 26 February 2014 01:33:19 James Bannon wrote: Package: qtcreator Version: 2.8.1-3 Severity: normal Tags: d-i Dear Maintainer, Launching qtcreator and clicking the help button results in an error saying it can't find the qtcreator documentation. Choosing any qtcreator-related subject in the introduction page results in the same error. Does not affect other installed documentation from qt-sdk. I wonder if that's a bug or a feature. For example, creator only sets up the Qt kits the first time it starts, then it's up to the user to do any other change. Workaround: Register the documentation manually using Tools - Help - Documentation. That would be Tools → Options... → Help → Documentation I found the workaround on the Qt sdk forums. A link to it would be helpful. I think this is an upstream bug, but I'll have to ask. Will mark it as such for now. -- La política es una actividad noble.
