Bug#794581: /usr/bin/kwin_x11: crashes when starting first window

2015-08-21 Thread Marcos Dione
Package: breeze
Version: 4:5.3.2-2
Followup-For: Bug #794581

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Same as most people: upgraded to 4:5.3.2-4, stopped working.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Downgraded, first to -3, then to -2.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Same as before, still crashes, same backtrace as the rest.

After removing the hold on breeze packages, effectively upgrading them
to -4, the desktop got decorations, though only on the first virtual
desktop, and the taskbar/panels are only present on the first virtual
 desktop.

I had the issue that taskbar and panels as well as desktop were real windows
and on DebConf I learned that this is currently fixable by downgrading to
testing versions of kf5 window system as follows:

apt-get install libkf5windowsystem5=5.12.0-1 libkf5windowsystem-data=5.12.0-1

Can you try whether it helps for you?

I.e. use newest breeze, but downgrade kf5 window systems to the version in
testing.

Thank you,

Or upgrade to latest 5.13.0-2, Maxy just uploaded. It contains the missing
plugins that causes the behavior I observed.

I am not sure whether your issue is the same cause tough.

Package: breeze
Version: 4:5.3.2-2
Followup-For: Bug #794581

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

I tested again today, and see a new effect.

With 5.3.2-4, kwin does not crash anymore. Instead, the desktop gets
window decorations and does not redraw. Everything else works.

I downgraded to 5.3.2-2 again, and now kwin crashes with the old
version, the same way it did with the new version before.

Maybe related to the libkf5* update today?

Updated build daemon with gcc-5 (I think)

It is. It got caught by the gcc5 transition.

I don't think so. The plasmashell crashes disappeared with
plasma-workspace 4:5.3.2-4.

I forgot to mention that I'm using DRI3, which seems a workaround
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86281

As far as I could see the problem was in kwin_x11: plasmashell didn't
crash.

And I'm still wondering how could the small changes in breeze between
-3 and -4 cause such issues...

Bug#794581: /usr/bin/kwin_x11: crashes when starting first window

2015-08-07 Thread Maurizio Avogadro
Ooops! Taked a deeper look on the Nvidia box: it turned out that for
some reason breeze was still at -3. Then I tried to install -4 and...
same as Intel: kwin_x11 crashed immediately at session start.

Sorry for the noise.

2015-08-05 Thread Arnout Boelens
Package: breeze
Followup-For: Bug #794581

This problem seems to be related to breeze. I had the same kwin crash, but
after I downgraded all breeze packages using snapshot.debian.org, things are
working again.

I had the same problem. And when I downgrade just kde-style-breeze to 4:5.3.2-3
all became norm.

kwin_x11 crashes the very moment the first application brings up a full,

when I started Konsole. I had to kill the session, ando n the next login
it was DrKonqi trzing to report the last crash on login.
