Nothing appears to happen. After a moment (and possibly some clicking on
the desktop), plasmashell segfaults.
I installed the dbgsym packages and ran it under GDB, obtaining a hug
(19M!) backtrace, as it has over 76,000 frames—appears like infinite
recursion. Though I'm somewhat confused why there are different frames
on both ends, unless that's the crash report error handler trying to
work...
Thankfully, xz managed to bring it down to 139K. Attached.
Both of us are using the nVidia proprietary drivers, if that matters.
I can't reproduce the issue here with an intel card, so it might be that the
issue is related to the nvidia drivers. I'm not really sure, can you test if
the issue is still reproducible for you with 4:5.8.7-1, currently in unstable?
(we have already requested approval for 4:5.8.7-1+deb9u1 for it to enter in
stretch)
If the problem persist with 4:5.8.7-1, could you please forward this issue
upstream, reporting the issue in: https://bugs.kde.org ? If you do so, please
also send us an update with the upstream url bug.
