-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi,
I've been having some annoying and strange problems with my ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf file that seem to be related to KMail and its locking of this file. Every now and then I'll notice that all of my contacts in the address book are gone; the book is just empty. If I look in ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc/ I'll see something like this: ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc$ ll total 256K drwx------ 2 me me 4.0K 2006-04-12 05:11 lock drwx------ 2 me me 4.0K 2005-12-19 18:58 logos drwx------ 2 me me 4.0K 2005-12-19 18:58 photos drwx------ 2 me me 4.0K 2005-12-19 18:58 sounds - -rwx------ 1 me me 40K 2006-04-12 05:11 std.vcf - -rwx------ 1 me me 40K 2006-04-12 05:11 std.vcf__0 - -rwx------ 1 me me 40K 2006-04-10 20:26 std.vcf_1 - -rwx------ 1 me me 40K 2006-04-12 00:14 std.vcf__1 - -rwx------ 1 me me 40K 2006-04-11 23:45 std.vcf__2 - -rwx------ 1 me me 40K 2006-04-11 23:45 std.vcfsynC8b.new Notice all the duplicated files and the dates and times on them. Then if I look in the lock directory I see this: ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc$ ll lock total 4.0K - -rw-r--r-- 1 me me 11 2006-04-11 23:45 _home_me_.kde_share_apps_kabc_std.vcfTxpHagmt ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc$ cat lock/_home_me_.kde_share_apps_kabc_std.vcfTxpHagmt 22936 kmail $ ps -A | grep kmail 18373 ? 00:00:53 kmail On the dates of the std.vcf* files and the lock file listed, I don't recall any KMail crashes. But it seems like something is causing the lock to not be removed. Then something (not sure if it's KMail and/or KABC) is duplicating the file under several names. This particular time, all of them have data, but in the past I've seen one or more of these duplicate files, especially std.vcf itself, at zero bytes. Then I have to restore it from one of the duplicates that still has the data. I'm not sure what to file this bug under. Advice would be appreciated. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFEQJiT5+GdyTDsrJsRAqseAKDG6O703jMAdVWdJDChai4VViw0nwCbB+6h RALpa1yPdrk6ZQXQxCZCc+4= =Mnax -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
