XSun log files & init(8)

2000-06-24 Thread Andreas Jaehnigen
Hi there,

has anyone running the Xserver Xsun (XsunMono etc) from init(8)?
The man page says it should log under /usr/adm and I've set up a
(relative) softlink from /usr/adm to /var/log.
(This is because /usr isn't writeable here.)

But the XServer doesn't log anything, the file isn't even created! :(
During XServer startup, I can't see any access to /usr/adm as well... (The
machines have there file system mounted over NFS.)

What's wrong here?
I first thought, the man page is wrong, but "strings Xsun" gives me (among
other things) a "/usr/adm"...

Or can anyone give me a hint where to ask elsewhere about this problem...?

Thanks a lot!

Definitely file a bug.

Woody: zsh-3.1.9-4: missing contents of /usr/lib/zsh/3.1.9?

2000-06-24 Thread J. S. Connell
I've just upgraded my SS10 to the latest&greatest packages in Woody, and it
seems the zsh package is missing a bunch of .so's.

The Intel package seems to contain all the dynamically-loaded shared
objects that implement most of zsh's functionality, but the SPARC package
seems to be not only missing the files but the functionality, too.

What is the procedure when one platform's port of a package is
broken? Should one file a bug against the package? Is there some other,
more appropriate forum to raise issues like this?

Thanks in advance -- and keep up the good work! =)
