openprom modified, then lockup. ;(
At work there's an unused Sparc 10, but that was upgraded with two disks, SUN1.05 and SUN2.0S. An unused sparc with 3GB of disk space was a true temptation... ;))) I've installed potato, and wont boot (from HD) saying ``Invalid Instruction''. After some fiddling and testing with openprom, i've seen that default boot device was disk, that was an alias for: /iommu/sbus/[EMAIL PROTECTED],40/[EMAIL PROTECTED],80/[EMAIL PROTECTED],0 so i've tryed some other, finding that: /iommu/sbus/[EMAIL PROTECTED],40/[EMAIL PROTECTED],80/[EMAIL PROTECTED],0 was the right choice. Now SILO boot! ;) After i've set disk to be an alias to this last, with: echo /iommu/sbus/[EMAIL PROTECTED],40/[EMAIL PROTECTED],80/[EMAIL PROTECTED],0 \ /proc/openprom/aliases/disk and system print disk isn't unique, message that are also printed every time the system boot up. The problem now are that... everytime i try to access some file in /proc/openprom, system LOCKUP, only thing i can do is Stop-B. Some clue? Thanks. -- dott. ing. Ultra 5 and X 4.0.1 (woody)
I have an Ultra5 which I upgraded to woody. The upgrade process went fine. With the upgrade my version of X was changed to 4.0.1 and I have been unable to start X ever since. Using dexter I have tried various configurations to no avail. My current confi file is shown below. When I attempt to start X with startx the screen flashes and then is blank, meanwhile the machine is hosed. I cannot switch VTYs, any ssh/telnet sessions are frozen and so on. I have to power cycle the machine to get it back. I don't have very much experience running on SPARC hardware so I'm sure I've missed something config wise. I have read the debian-sparc archives as well as combed through the /usr/doc stuff but I couldn't find anything that looked like it would solve my problem. If I can post any more files to help I'd be glad to. The ati driver in XF4 will kill your system (as noted in several email to this list). I am currently using the old mach64 server on woody with no problems. -- ---===-=-==-=---==-=-- / Ben Collins -- ...on that fantastic voyage... -- Debian GNU/Linux \ ` [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] ' `---=--===-=-=-=-===-==---=--=---'

Autobuilder log pages
Hello world, Please Cc me, I'm not on most of these lists. I guess most (all?) of the ports have autobuilders now days, and I guess most (all?) of them have build logs on the web somewhere. I'd like to add links to build logs from http://auric.debian.org/~ajt/update_excuses.html so that, eg, + aout of date on m68k/a: slocate(2.2-0.0) is a link to the m68k build logs for version 2.4-1 of the slocate source package (or, ideally, a The autobuilder hasn't tried building this package yet because... page when appropriate) to explain why this hasn't built and maybe make it obvious what needs to be fixed. So is there any chance of people telling me urls I can use for this? Something like: http://m68k.debian.org/buildd/logs/slocate_2.4-1_20001201-0800 almost works, except for the _20001201-0800...
