I think it is likely that the latter five completely override the initial
three. The latter five are deprecated; see keyboard(4).

Option "XkbCompat" "compat/complete"
Option "XkbTypes" "types/complete"
Option "XkbKeycodes" "sun(type5)"

Actually, it's a type6 USB keyboard. I'm pretty sure we tried both type6
and type5 for XkbModel, with no success.

Well, I wasn't suggesting to mount it by default; just to compile in
support.

Interesting. It appears to be of the correct size. I'll try booting it
myself later.

Not very good. I suggest using 2.2.20-pre.

I need to track down a bug in GNU CLISP.
(sourceforge compilefarm setup is too network-isolated for what I have

I am afraid there is not, although we _are_ interested in having one.
Unfortunately, we do not have resources to do that.
We would appreciate if the debian folks made such package.

So here I am - asking for (temporary) ssh access to a Linux/Sparc
machine to track down a bug in GNU CLISP (which I maintain in my CFT).

Please CC me on any replies.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, since I never got around the weird video corruption
problem I was having on the box (an Ultra 5), I finally gave up and
never figured out the correct settings for the keyboard.

Not sure about this one. Is it a type5 keyboard, or a ps2 keyboard?

Well, after installing Branden's 4.1 packages, and using the ATI
driver, we managed to get XFree to boot. The only problem is that
using the above settings, the keymap wasn't right. All the keys were
shifted left; a was s, d was f, etc. This is where we are currently
stuck.

One minor problem we ran into was that there was no device by which to
access a USB mouse; we ended up recompiling the kernel with devfs
support, and then /dev/input/mice showed up. Is there any reason the
standard 2.4.7-sun4u images don't have devfs support?

hmm... the 2.4.7 boot messages say:

Jul 22 22:33:31 twin kernel: 20306MB HIGHMEM available.
Jul 22 22:33:31 twin kernel: On node 0 totalpages: 32080

the box has 128 megs.

Are you running with some highmem? (it should tell you in the boot log)
If so I can see a few places that could cause this bug. It appears that
we are scheduling with the page_table lock held.
