XDM on headless U5

2003-02-09 Thread Antonio Prioglio
Hi, I'm trying to get an U5 running sparc woody to answer to XDMCP from a
SS20 running Solaris 8.

In Xacces I need to set '*' on a line of its own in order for the machine
to appear on the remote list of willing servers. If I use '* CHOOSER
BROADCAST' it does not work.

Are there any reason why this should be so? (My other Solaris,NetBSD,RH
machines work with CHOOSER BROADCAST.

Any hint will be appreciated.

Does anybody have an .iso or full tftpboot.img with this patch in it?

I've tried building it myself against the 2.4.19 kernel, but that
did not work. I must be missing a number of other patches, and it'll
probably be a hassle for me to figure all of them out.

I have booted the kernel sucessfully with this patch, using tftp. As I
did not have a linux-sparc machine to compile the kernel, I used a
crosscomplier (using an old egcs version). The compiler gave a internal
error on the qlogic fiber channel driver. I can give you a copy of the
kernel without this, but as your system probably resides on the fc disks
of the netra, this won't help you as it didn't help me.

I passed this patch on to the people who manage the sparc version of the
gentoo distribution and they included a patched kernel on their sparc
version (target on startup is "jove"). As the machine I had to work with
has started its life as a server (running solaris), I had to stop
testing. The last version I tested was test-8.iso on
http://cvs.gentoo.org/~manson/iso/ It hung after decompressioin. Please
contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] for further info/help.
