RAID config option missing

2006-02-20 Thread Jim Farrand
Hi,

I'm trying to install Debian on a Sun Ultra 60 with 2 SCSI harddisks. I
want to use software RAID on the discs.

Although I can see the config option in partitioning section for
configering RAID, I am not able to set partitions to type Physical
volume for RAID in the partition config (which is a pre-requisite to
the Configuring RAID step). All the guides I can find tell me I really
need to be able to set this option to do the install (although they are
all x86 specific).

Does anyone know if this is just a bug in the installer, or is there a
good reason that this option is missing (ie RAID won't work on this
setup)? Or do I need to do something different on sparc systems?

Thanks in advance,
Jim

Creator3d modes

2006-02-20 Thread koda80 (sent by Nabble.com)

My creator3d will run 1280x1024 fine, the only higher resolutions i've found
that work are 1600x1000x60 and 1440x900x70; great if I had a 16:9, but my
gdm20e20 is capable of much more, why can't I run a 4:3 mode higher than the
5:4 1280 mode? BTW sun ultra10 440mhz running dual head in x at
1280x1024(creator3d ffb+2) and 1024x768(on a 17 with the built-in ati card)
the 1600x1200 mode or 1440x1080 set in OBP revert back to 1280x1024 on
reset, or cause the out of range blinky led on the monitor (depending on the
refresh I give it) those modes should run anywhere between 60 and 66hz,
checked them with the modeline creator(pretty good check of monitor
capabilities), is it my card limit, or monitor limit? I can't seem to get
real specs (supported resolutions) on either the card or monitor, but I have
the proper sync rates for the monitor and modelines for x up to
1600x1200x60.

sparc64 smp halt

2006-02-20 Thread Blars Blarson
I switched my ultra-2 to a serial console so I could capture the oops
when I ran into the sparc64 smp halting bug again. The message is:

Working on bug 353111 made my system totally unbootable.

I can't test it here. (no sparc with debian available a.t.m.) Maybe
someone on the list is kind enough to test it?

Cheers,

Hi,

I read your RAID howto on the Sparc (translation in english) and as well I
have been reading a lot thorough the internet, and something confuses me
regarding your guide, is that your put the compilation of the kernel after
the creation of the mirror.

It is quite confusing to me. Have you plans to reogranize your guide?
