Assuming you want the default kernel labeled Linux, type as below after the boot prompt and hit enter: boot: Linux video=atyfb:off I suppose this could be configured in /boot/silo.conf too... jim -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Sun PGX64 Video questions
I have a Sun Ultra 60 running ETCH connected to my gdm20d10 monitor. I have a TATUNG Comp 10 I would like to add to my network. The TATUNG has a Creator 3D card. I have a PGX64 card I would like to put in the TATUNG so I can run it through my KVM using my Gateway VX900 monitor. From what I can find thee PGX64 and the VX900 are compatible. I am 60 years old and would like to avoid crawling under my desk to change monitor hook-ups if possible. My questions are: If I remove the Creator card and put the PGX64 in my TATUNG, will the card find and set itself to the monitor so I don't have problems with the initial Sun boot display or will the Sun boot display attempt to boot into 1152x900 which isn't supported by the monitor? If there is no answer to the above question, am I endangering my monitor if I try this? Earl URL http://deserthowler.cjb.net Instant messenger: earlcoyote ICQ:64033496 Never miss an email again! I had a similar problem when I tried to install on my blade 1000, looking on internet I found a very, very useful how-to (http://doownek.org) and using it I was able to install all without problems. Problems came after, when I tried to use the graphic card and other blade's characteristics (but this is another story ...). Look for it and use it. I think that you'll be able to start without problems. Ultra Enterprise 3000k Installation
I can't get the installer to work on this server. With 3.1, the installer simply cannot find the CD drive. The scsi driver, esp, is loaded. I believe the cd-rom should be at scsi ID 6, I don't know how to tell the installer to look here though. I also tried with a debian testing install CD. I get a kernel panic in this case: Kernel panic: esp_handle: current_SC == penguin within interrupt! Is there a way to get more information? This corresponds to a block of code around line 4243 of the esp.c driver: http://www.gelato.unsw.edu.au/lxr/source/drivers/scsi/esp.c#L4243 I don't know what to do about these problems. I've currently got Solaris 10 installed, but Debian would be preferrable. Thanks, Nathan
