Could you guys please check if these issues are related to #432256? Re: Blade 1000 - no hard disks detected
Hello Thomas, * Thomas Amm [EMAIL PROTECTED], [2007-03-03 12:04 +0100]: I was trying to install Etch on my Sun Blade 1000 via netboot. Unlike the install, I tried about a year ago, the install menu was displayed fine and keyboard and network recognition were fast and correct - unfortunately no hard disks were detected. I also had no luck in trying to manually load the right driver. That's because the installer is now using the qla2xxx module for the Blade's controller, and that module doesn't work without a binary firmware. What you need to do is just switching to a console (alt+f2), wget the qlogic firmware, install it, and re-load the qla2xxx module. wget http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/non-free/f/firmware-nonfree/firmware-qlogic_0.3_all.deb udpkg -i firmware-qlogic_0.3_all.deb modprobe -r qla2xxx modprobe qla2xxx ciao, ema -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Re: 2.6.20 unaligned accesses
* David Miller [EMAIL PROTECTED], [2007-02-26 15:16 -0800]: From: Emanuele Rocca [EMAIL PROTECTED] On a Sun Blade 2000 I got this one every time I load eth1394: Kernel unaligned access at TPC[101880c8] ether1394_reset_priv+0x2c/0xb8 [eth1394] I got rid of the message with the following patch: That is a different bug, and the current 2.6.x tree already has that fix applied so you shouldn't need to apply that patch to the vanilla tree. Ah, nice. linux-source 2.6.18.dfsg.1-11 (Debian unstable) is affected by the bug, so maybe we could add the patch? Thanks. ciao, ema signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Re: Sun Blade 2000
Hello Frans, * Frans Pop [EMAIL PROTECTED], [2007-02-21 7:08 +0100]: On Wednesday 21 February 2007 01:25, Emanuele Rocca wrote: I've tried using reiserfs for the root partition, but silo doesn't work with filesystems which are not ext3/ext2/ufs; it would be very cool IMHO to warn the user about that if he tries to use something different from ext3/ext2. I know that one should RTFM before installing, but going through the whole installation just to realize that the machine won't boot, err, sucks. Please file a BR against silo-installer for that. A patch would be great too ;-) Actually it's been already reported (and closed): #286265. I'll try another installation, it seems that the check didn't work here.
