The box was installed almost 3 years ago.
It was installed using netboot.
It was installed using woody, then upgraded to sarge.
Some time after that it was upgraded to etch.

To intall the kernel i tried:

aptitude install linux-image-2.6.17-2-sparc64

Aparently all is ok, but at boot time fails :(

It complains about the hdd device.

something about diferences of /dev/hda and
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part5

I don't remmember exactly and i don't have the box
right here, till monday i go to work.

Thanks.

Hi!

Does anyone have a blade 150 with kernel 2.6 running?

If so, how?

I can't boot on 2.6 kernels, just 2.4 (currently using
2.4.26-sparc64) :(

I'm using etch.

Bye.

woody to sarge

2004-07-14 Thread Enrique Morfin
Hi!

I instled woody on a sunblade150, following:

http://www.de-brauwer.be/docs/debian_on_sun.html

i need it as a mail server, so i need clamav,
mailscanner. (by the way, how i configure exim4 to do
this?)

i need sarge, so i modified my source.list and make
dist-upgrade. At some point of this step it ask to
modify the locales, i said NO, but when it finish, my
keyboard is mesed up, is useless. So i need to
reinstall woody and begin all again.

How can i avoid this? (dist-upgrade change the
keyboard)

or how i can change it again? boot from cd and rescue?
what i have to change to recober my us keyboard?

Thanks.

memory OT?

2004-06-25 Thread Enrique Morfin
Hi!

Maybe this is an off topic, but im new in sparc.

today i instaled woody on a sunblade150, and in monday
i will upgrade to sarge.

I can't install sarge directly from cd, but i made a
woody net install.

My question is about memory:

I just have 256M, but i need 2G, so i plan tu buy 4
512M dimm.

I need "sun" (kingston specialy made to sun) memory?,
or i can use any pc133 dimm?
is there any diference?

Thanks.

sunblade 150 + debian.

2004-04-16 Thread Enrique Morfin
Hi!

Today the research center where i work, buy a sunblade
150, so, soon i'll have to install it.

Does woody can be installed on this box? if not, where
can i find sarge for sparc? (in 7 mirrors i looked,
just in 2 i find 3.0r2 for sparc).

I have been using debian for 4 years, but only in i386
and ppc and begining with mips (this week), and i hope
soon in sparc.

Plz cc me, i'm not in the list (untill the box arrives
to my office ;) )

Thanks.
