I'll do that, thanks!

OOPS when using Solaris compatability

2000-09-14 Thread Heinrich Rebehn
Hi,

I tried to use the Solaris compatability mode on my Ultra Creator 3D
today.
I used the Solaris program 'ufsrestore' because it is statically linked
(no libs needed).

However the program dies:
-
napoli:/usr/gnemul/sbin# ./ufsrestore
Killed
-

and on the console i get:
-
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference
tsk->mm->context = 04bc
tsk->mm->pgd = f80024b28000

Has anybody on the list successfully used Solaris compatability? Did i
miss anything?
Any hints would be welcome

Problem installing gnome-panel

2000-09-13 Thread Heinrich Rebehn
Hi,

Trying to install gnome-panel on sparc/potato yields fails with unmet
dependencies:

bern:~# apt-get install gnome-panel
Reading Package Lists... Done

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:

I have been browsing a bit and found out that the Solaris emulation seems to
exist
only for the Sparc64 architecture. When I do a "make xconfig" on my SS20
(Sun4m) i am only
offered SunOS emulation.
Is this true?
