Re: X in lenny: 'cannot run in ramebuffer mode'

2009-05-04 Thread Jon Pruente
I couldn't add much more info than I have in my posts. The BusID I got is
from the X.org output as it listed what it autoprobed. I had seen BusID
lines for AGP and PCIe cards, so it wasn't too hard to make one for SBUS.

Re: Re: Debian First Boot Problem on Ultra5

2009-05-03 Thread Jon Pruente
Is the monitor connected to the VGA port built into the motherboard? I've
been having problems with X & GDM on an Ultra 10, which uses the same mobo,
IIRC. I was planning on trying it with the on board video, but you may be
beating me to it.

Re: X in lenny: 'cannot run in ramebuffer mode'

2009-05-03 Thread Jon Pruente
This looks like the same error I was getting on my Ultra 10 w/ Creator 3D
card under a fresh Lenny/5.0.1 install. Under 5.0.0 it get an error of not
having the sunffb module available. I have a thread going on the list about
it as well.

Re: X/GDM fails on Ultra 10 w/ Creator 3D under Lenny

2009-05-02 Thread Jon Pruente
Just gave 5.0.0 an install. X/GDM fails, complaining of missing the sunffb
module(s). I didn't nab the X.org output before I wiped the system though.
It sure seem X is really broken on UPA cards. I'll have to give it a shot
on the built-in video and see what it does.

"apt-cache policy xorg" only lists 7.3+10 avail. Is there somewhere else I
should look?

X/GDM fails on Ultra 10 w/ Creator 3D under Lenny

2009-04-20 Thread Jon Pruente
I just completed a clean install of 5.0.1 on my Ultra 10 and it seemed to go
well, up to booting to the GUI. It fails, telling me it needs to have the
BusID specified to use the fbdev. Before I make my post very long with the
X error output, is there a common busID I should try for the Creator 3D UPA
card? I tried adding the "SBUS:/SUNW,f...@1e,0" line that is ref'd in the
error output to the Device section, which took care of not having a busID
specified, but it still says it can't use the framebuffer.
