PanoramiX error: Incompatible screens. No common visuals

All your displays need to have compatible settings (such as color depth
and/or resolution). Say one of your displays can do 1024x768x24colors,
and another can do 1024x768x16colors but not 24colors, and there are no
other combinations either that are common between the multiple heads.
This would cause this problem.

RE: debian/sparc serial console

2003-10-01 Thread Maximiliano Garcia Silva - Decidir IT
You can set the 'input-device' and 'output-device' in the openBOOT to 'ttya'
for all I/O from/to serial console.

Or you can use the 'eeprom' from the command line to do these.

Subject: debian/sparc serial console

I've transitioned my Ultra 10 from my primary Desktop machine to
network server (having acquired a powerbook for my primary needs -
still trying to get Evolution compiled on that.) I would like to
access this Ultra 10 only through a serial cable ethernet, without
monitor or keyboard. I should be able to do this through some settings
in Open Firmware right?

What do I need to set there, and what do I need to set inside linux so
that it stops pestering me about no keyboard being attached. Can I set
these open firmware variables from inside linux?

The machine is running fine right now without monitor or keyboard
attached - I can access it fine through ssh.

And...
How do I disable X on boot?

This page:
http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/reference/ch-tips.en.html#s-no-x-
start
tells me that I could try this:
update-rc.d ?dm stop 99 1 2 3 4 5 6

I'm running on testing. Would this work - I'm currently running
debian/testing on the box?

Some problems with Xfree86/sunffb driver

2003-09-19 Thread Maximiliano Garcia Silva - Decidir IT
Hi, I'm new on debian/sparc and I'm trying to setup XFree86 to use the two
vieo cards that came with my workstation.
I'm trying to have the same video mode and color depth in both displays so I
can enable XINERAMA.

Some problems I have:

- SUN ELITE 3D (SUNFFB module): I can alter nor the colors, nor the video
modes. I'd specified them in the configuration, but it loads only
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
- ATI MATCH 64 GP (ATI module): Doesn't support 1152x900 mode; using 24
bits, 1024x768 is the maximum allowed.
- MOUSE (SUN model: COMPACT 1): I have specified 3 buttons in the
configuration, but it doesn't work.

System spec:

SUN Ultra 10
440 Mhz, 256 Gb RAM
kernel 2.4.21
afbinit package configured and working.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

thanks
max
