on board frame buffer
Hi to all, I have an Ultra 10 with 2 framebuffers, one on board (ati) and one in the sbus (elite 3d). Anyone known how to disable completly the on board framebuffer? (if it is possible). thanks max
RE: debian/sparc serial console
You can set the 'input-device' and 'output-device' in the openBOOT to 'ttya' for all I/O from/to serial console. Or you can use the 'eeprom' from the command line to do these. regards max -Original Message- From: Satadru Pramanik [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, October 01, 2003 2:14 AM To: debian-sparc@lists.debian.org Subject: debian/sparc serial console I've transitioned my Ultra 10 from my primary Desktop machine to network server (having acquired a powerbook for my primary needs - still trying to get Evolution compiled on that.) I would like to access this Ultra 10 only through a serial cable ethernet, without monitor or keyboard. I should be able to do this through some settings in Open Firmware right? What do I need to set there, and what do I need to set inside linux so that it stops pestering me about no keyboard being attached. Can I set these open firmware variables from inside linux? The machine is running fine right now without monitor or keyboard attached - I can access it fine through ssh. And... How do I disable X on boot? This page: http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/reference/ch-tips.en.html#s-no-x- start tells me that I could try this: update-rc.d ?dm stop 99 1 2 3 4 5 6 I'm running on testing. Would this work - I'm currently running debian/testing on the box? Satadru

Some problems with Xfree86/sunffb driver
Hi, I'm new on debian/sparc and I'm trying to setup XFree86 to use the two vieo cards that came with my workstation. I'm trying to have the same video mode and color depth in both displays so I can enable XINERAMA. Some problems I have: - SUN ELITE 3D (SUNFFB module): I can alter nor the colors, nor the video modes. I'd specified them in the configuration, but it loads only [EMAIL PROTECTED] - ATI MATCH 64 GP (ATI module): Doesn't support 1152x900 mode; using 24 bits, 1024x768 is the maximum allowed. - MOUSE (SUN model: COMPACT 1): I have specified 3 buttons in the configuration, but it doesn't work. System spec: SUN Ultra 10 440 Mhz, 256 Gb RAM kernel 2.4.21 afbinit package configured and working. Any suggestions are welcomed. thanks max -- my XF86Config-4 -- Section ServerLayout Identifier XFree86 Configured Screen 0 Screen0 0 0 Screen 1 Screen1 LeftOf Screen0 InputDeviceSUNMouse CorePointer InputDeviceSUNKeyboard CoreKeyboard EndSection #Section ServerFlags # Option Xinerama true #EndSection Section Files RgbPath /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb ModulePath /usr/X11R6/lib/modules FontPath /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/ FontPath /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/ FontPath /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/ FontPath /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/CID/ FontPath /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/ FontPath /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/ EndSection Section Module Load dbe # Load dri Load extmod Load glx Load record Load xtrap Load speedo Load type1 EndSection Section InputDevice Identifier SUNKeyboard Driver keyboard Option CoreKeyboard Option XkbRules sun Option XkbModel type5_unix Option XkbLayout us EndSection Section InputDevice Identifier SUNMouse Driver mouse Option Protocol mouseman Option Device/dev/mouse Option SendCoreEventstrue Option Buttons 3 EndSection Section Monitor Identifier SyncMaster750s HorizSync 30-70 VertRefresh 50-160 VendorName SAMSUNG ModelName750s Option DPMS EndSection Section Monitor Identifier Sun17 HorizSync 30-70 VertRefresh 50-160 VendorName SUN ModelName54a Option DPMS EndSection Section Device Identifier ATI Match64 GP Driver ati VendorName ATI BoardName Mach64 GP ChipSet ati ChipId 0x4750 ChipRev 0x5c Option accel true Option probe_clocks true BusID PCI:1:2:0 EndSection Section Device ### Available Driver options are:- ### Values: i: integer, f: float, bool: True/False, ### string: String, freq: f Hz/kHz/MHz ### [arg]: arg optional #Option SWcursor # [bool] #Option HWcursor # [bool] #Option NoAccel # [bool] Identifier Sun Elite3D Driver sunffb VendorName SUN BoardName Elite3D Option accel true BusID SBUS:fb0 EndSection Section Screen Identifier Screen0 Device ATI Match64 GP MonitorSyncMaster750s DefaultDepth16 SubSection Display Depth 8 Modes 1280x1024 1024x768 800x600 640x480 EndSubSection SubSection Display Depth 16 Modes 1280x1024 1024x768 800x600 640x480 EndSubSection SubSection Display Depth 24 Modes 1280x1024 1024x768 800x600 640x480 EndSubSection EndSection Section Screen Identifier Screen1 Device Sun Elite3D MonitorSun17 DefaultDepth24 SubSection Display Depth 8 Modes 1280x1024 1152x900 1024x768 800x600 640x480 EndSubSection SubSection Display Depth 16 Modes 1280x1024 1152x900 1024x768 800x600 640x480 EndSubSection SubSection Display Depth 24 Modes 1280x1024 1152x900 1024x768 800x600 640x480 EndSubSection EndSection Section DRI Mode
