MOSIX Cluster with SPARCstation 4
Hello ... I have a SPARCstation 4 running Debian 3.0 and I´d like to put this computer on a MOSIX cluter on my job. I have the kernel source (2.4.26) and the appropriated kernel patch provided by the MOSIX web page, but something seems weird to me. I´ve done this before on Intel machines and I didn´t have any problem; after patching the kernel I compiled and everything went ok. I realized that after patching the kernel a new option appeared on the configuration screen (that screen that appears when we put "make menuconfig"), but (and here is the "problem" itself) on the SPARCstation this new option did not appear. Is this correct? Any suggestion? Did anyone have this type of problem? Thanks and forgive me, but my english is really bad. Good bye, Miguel D.
Re: netboot , need help
A long time ago I installed Splack (www.splack.org) on my SPARCstation 4 using NFS and Pentium III without problems. I think you will not have problems trying this with Debian. Nowadays I use Debian 3.0 in the same machine and the installation was done using the same Pentium III running NFS (in the P III I have Debian 3.0 also.). So, good luck. Must I have the file "sys/io.h" ???
Hello everybody ... I´m using Debian 3.0 in a SPARCstation 4 (110MHz) and I downloaded the GGI lib some minutes ago and compiled it (in fact, it´s being compiled right now...) and everything seems to work. But I have doubt ... other things I tried do compiled failed and a message related to the file sys/io.h appeared. I used the find command I found 3 files wich name is io.sys: /usr/include/asm/io.h/usr/include/asm-sparc/io.h/usr/include/asm-sparc64/io.h So ... I guess that sys/io.h isn´t too much important, am I wrong? And also ... what is the function of this file? Bye. Miguel.
Problems with Debian 3.0 + SPARCstation 4 + SVGALib 1.4.3
I´m trying to use the SVGALib 1.4.3 in a SPARCstation 4 (110MHz) running Debian 3.0. I´ve downloaded the sources from www.svgalib.org and when I try to compile the SPARC returns me the following messages: libvga.h: 276 (and also sometimes 296) inconsistent operand constraints in an ´asm´. libvga.h: 12 warning: no include path in wich to find sys/io.h This message appears several times and at the end I´ve got this one: /root/svgalib-1.4.3/src/vga.c: At top level: /root/svgalib-1.4.3/src/vga.c:318: warning: ´release_acquire´ defined but not used make[1]: ***[vga.o] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory ´/root/svgalib-1.4.3/sharedlib´ make: *** [sharedlib/libvga.so.1.4.3] Error 2 Using the command find I can see that the system contains three files called ´io.h´: /usr/include/asm/io.h /usr/include/asm-sparc/io.h /usr/include/asm-sparc64/io.h Any suggestion?! Good bye. Miguel.
