I doubt it will build. There was a port of openoffice.org 1.0.3 to Sparc/linux floating around that a guy know as "The Shrink" did for Aurora. I made a patch from his source and posted it to the Aurora Sparc list. Here is a link to it: http://www.dslextreme.com/users/tomduffy/openoffice-sparc.diff.bz2 Once applying this patch, you should be able to build 1.0.3. -tduffy -- Thomas Duffy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

I can email you copy of the old tftpboot.img because I don't think it is accessible on the Debian ftp site anymore. this is a big mess right now and until Ben gets his new sparc64 woody images out, you will need lots of workarounds. once that disk goes out, it should be way easier to install woody. -tduffy

I accidently told the debconf tool to use the uk sun type 5 keyboard during install (of latest debian unstable today) on a Sun Ultra10. This has caused the dpkg --configure of console-common to fail with the following error: Setting up console-common (0.7.3) ... So, first off, how do I get the configure of console-common to not want to load sunt5-uk? I have tried running "install-keymap NONE" but this does not work... Secondly, how do I stop this from panic'ing? thanks, -tduffy

serial console on blade100
I am having a little trouble getting kernel messages to print to the serial line on my blade100. I am used to x86, so I might have to do something different on sparc so that is what I am asking. On x86, if you pass (at the LILO prompt) "console=tty1 console=ttyS0", it will print kernel messages to both the VGA and serial lines. The last console= message it gets will be where the /dev/console will print to, so initscript message will get sent there. I have tried this on sparc and it only prints out messages to the VGA no matter what order I pass the console= messages to. If I only give it one console=ttyS0, the boot hangs very early in the boot sequence. Maybe this all has to do with how the openboot figures out what is the console...if there is a keyboard plugged in, it throws messages to the VGA, and if not, to the serial. In that case, is there a way to change the prom to print out to the serial line (so, like SILO gets printed there as well) as well as the VGA? thanks, -tduffy

I slapped in my blade about a couple of weeks ago. I use debian testing as stable does not work. so, you will need to do a net boot (floppy does not work and CD does not exist). -tduffy

Debian 2.2r3 on Sun Enterprise 3500
I have an Enterprise 3500 machine that I am trying to install Debian on. Unfortunately, it does not seem to be able to access the scsi drives during install. It sees the CDROM, but none of the six scsi drives in the system. No errors about unrecognized scsi controller or anything. I can boot it with nfs root, but this is not ideal. The same thing happens on SuSE 7.1 and RedHat 6.2. Anybody had any luck getting Debian installed on a 3500? Thanks, -tduffy
