Re: SUN RAY 1 WITH LINUX
you would need to convert the protocols (via UDP) that the SunRay uses. This is not a trivial task. Given that these protocols are proprietary to Sun, access to information about them will be difficult, reverse engineering may be the only way. I need some help with you guys... I was wondering if someone tried to use a Sun Ray 1 with a Linux server? I know it's a box (I mean the Sun Ray), there is not documentation on this (except for the javastations). If someone could help me with this, I wanna use an Intel Server with Debian or FreeBSD (that will be the tftp server) and some Sun Rays as X clients... thank you for your time. _ Do You Yahoo!? Re: SUN RAY 1 WITH LINUX
I have been running Gentoo on my Sun Blade 100 at work for 6mths, but have reverted back to Solaris 9. Solaris seems to perform better under severe memory contraints (measly 256MB in this machine). You are correct. Cheers, W. Ben Collins wrote: On Thu, Apr 03, 2003 at 09:12:29AM +1200, Warren Hughes wrote: Sun Ray server software for Linux is a lab project and not available for release. Re: Sun Blade 100 config
Hi Ben, yes I have tried the string you give below (on a CD burnt at 4x) and I get the Fast MMU Miss error just after it says initializing RAMdisk prior to loading the kernel. So the only way I can get the kernel to boot at all is with your netiso image. I was on a much older version of the OBP and couldn't get anything to boot, went to the newest, can at least boot now. Does anyone have a suggestion for what version of the OBP I should be using? Is there anyway to get Debian installed using you netiso image? I just says I need to specify a valid root= (at the boot: prompt I have been typing /sparc64 ide=nodma) Thanks, Warren. - Original Message - From: Ben Collins [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Tuesday, November 5, 2002 5:57 pm Subject: Re: Sun Blade 100 config On Tue, Nov 05, 2002 at 04:32:01PM +1300, Warren Hughes wrote: Hi all, I am trying to get Woody running on my Sun Blade 100. Re: Sun Blade 100 config
Legend! That did it, I can now actually boot bcollins netiso image. Still cant boot the debian install cd (cant find clock timer). Next thing; has anyone had any success getting the kernel to recognise a Sun Swift card (thats a pci card with a 10/100 NIC and SCSI); I have an external disk pack that I want to install Debian on so I can dual boot. Sun Blade 100 config
Hi all, I am trying to get Woody running on my Sun Blade 100. I am having no end of problems. Have upgraded to the latest OBP/POST. It seems the only kernel I can get to boot (without MMU Miss problems) is: http://auric.debian.org/~bcollins/disks-sparc/3.0.23-2002-10-05/netinst.iso.bz2 at the end of the kernel load I get errors about needing a valid root= I have tried /sparc64 initrd=/root.bin (on the above ISO) but I always get MMU Miss when it tries to init the ramdisk prior to loading the kernel. As the kernel loads it looks like it inits a good ramdisk with no problems. Also as the kernel loads I am gettings lots of lost interrupt for my HDD/CD. My Sun Blade 100, is very standard 15GB HDD, 256MB RAM, standard in-built video card. Any Ideas? Thanks, Warren. P.S.
