ssh

1999-09-21 Thread shashi
I have Debian 2.1 running on Sparcstations 2 and a Sparcstation 10.
Ive installed ssh on them but the problem is that when I try to ssh
into a machine I get the message:
Cannot allocate pseudotty

I can ssh out from the machine.
Im running kernels 2.2.x and ssh version 1.2
Does anyone have any ideas on curing this problem?
Thanks,

X and slink

1999-05-09 Thread shashi
Ive installed Debian 2.1 on a Sparcstation 10. Thinsg are fine but
every once in a while the screen freezes and then goes blank.
I cant log in to the machine remotely and the only choice is to switch
the machine of and back on.
Does anyone have an idea why this is happening?

iraf

1999-03-11 Thread shashi
Hi, on my sparcstation 10 which has slink on it, Ive set
/etc/apt/sources.list to point to

ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free

and run apt-get update.

If I type

apt-get install iraf

it says package has no installation candidate and similarly if I use
dselect to do this no iraf is obtained. If I do the same on the i386
architecture, I do find iraf and everything is fine. Does this
mean this package has not been ported to debian-sparc 2.1?

Also, I got netscape for debian-sparc from ftp.netscape.com and installed
it on this sparc10. When I type netscape I get

netscape: error in loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.2.8: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

What package should I install to get this working?

disk space

1999-03-11 Thread shashi
Hi, would it be possible to install slink on a sparc10 which only
has about 150MB of space? I mean install the X window system and gcc,g++
plus netscape and all associated libraries?

Try going to ftp.mozilla.org there should be a netscape sparc version

I can't get to my sparcbox right now to check.

 There is a package in non-free/web. apt-get navigator-smotif-45 or
communicator-smotif-45 and apt should fill in the details.
