debian : X

2007-11-06 Thread Eric Rapilly
I recentlyinstalled debian etch on my SUN ultra 60. I don't know if this
problem is common, I can't launch any X session, whatever is the way I
configure the Xserver : using "dpkg ." or reconfiguring teh
xorg.conf with an editor. Checking the /var/log/xorg file shows me that
the module for the grafik card looks to be correctly loaded. Has someone
any idea ???

I've been able to get away with just these two:

  XkbModel "sun"
  XkbKeycodes "sun(type5)"

but maybe the other lines affect things I don't use?

Debian, X, Ultra 5, Type 6 keyboard

2001-03-26 Thread Andrew Pollock
Many moons ago, I asked the question in here about how to get a Type 6
keyboard working under X with Debian...

No one was able to help me. I've even had a few people strike the same
problem and email me since then...

Well, today, I can announce that I've found a valuable use for Red Hat on
Sparc, looking at it's XF86Config file :-)

You need to put these lines in your keyboard section and all becomes good:

XkbRules"sun"
XkbModel"type5"
XkbLayout "us"
XkbCompat "compat/complete"
XkbTypes"types/complete"
XkbKeycodes "sun(type5)"
XkbGeometry "sun"
XkbSymbols "sun/us(sun5)"

I'm happy now...

Andrew
