RE: Debian on Compaq ProLiant 800 servers
I have installed linux on a Proliant 800 and 1850R. If you are not using a smart array controller, then you should not need the smart start CD. I have ecountered ethernet lockups using the on board tlan ethernet controller. I use a good PCI ethernet such as Intel Eepro100. I have seen 20 1850s with dual 450s run for a year straight. If your install hangs while probing for keyboard and mouse, it is hanging on semi-existant USB hardware. Boot with linux nousb to avoid the usb hangup. -Original Message- From: Ben Collins [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, May 19, 2004 10:07 AM To: Craig Ian Dewick Cc: Debian Sparc Subject: Re: Debian on Compaq ProLiant 800 servers On Wed, May 19, 2004 at 07:24:54PM +1000, Craig Ian Dewick wrote: Hi everyone, APANA Sydney has obtained a Compaq Proliant 800 server with dual P2-450's which we want to use to replace our aging and increasingly-flaky P-100 system.
