Re: Debian on SunBlade 2500

You're the first person likely to try and install on this machine.

thanks... that explains lots of things =P

SunBlade1500 wouldn't boot properly until I got one myself and
added the necessary fixes, I certainly wish I had a 2500 too so

is this HW so different to the SB1500 one?. this machine is not in use
at this moment, I would lend it but im too far away (customs problems
here in Argentina to export an reimport the hard, and so).
ssh root access to a rs232-linked pc and a convenient way to reset the
sb2500 is not sufficient to play with it?.
even OpenBoot is seen trough the tty ports, im right? just
wondering...

I could make that work as well but unlike in the old days Sun doesn't
loan me out hardware anymore so that I can do that.

We are a Sun OEM that put the 2500 mainboard into rack chassis-

Do you or Ben C. have a specific tftp image that has most of the drivers
bundled in (i.e. a full initrd image).

We would like to help but I am not sure about loaning hardware..

I personally have run Woody on the Sun AXmp with no problem.

Debian on SunBlade 2500

2005-05-25 Thread Ivan Stepaniuk
Hello
I'm new to sparc architecture, Is there a way to install Debian on a
SunBlade 2500 Workstation (UltraSparc IIIi)? docs an how-tos don't make
mention to this hardware in particular (cause it's very new?).
I've tried to install from CD, also via tftp, in both cases it crashes
when loading the kernel/initrd with diferent error mesages about memory
mapping (i'll post those messages later, im at home now).
I'm looking for a starting point, url, or magic recipe ;)

thank you and sorry my english
