Re: SUN RAY 1 WITH LINUX
you would need to convert the protocols (via UDP) that the SunRay uses. This is not a trivial task. Given that these protocols are proprietary to Sun, access to information about them will be difficult, reverse engineering may be the only way. SUN RAY 1 WITH LINUX
Hi... I need some help with you guys... I was wondering if someone tried to use a Sun Ray 1 with a Linux server? I know it's a "box" (I mean the Sun Ray), there is not documentation on this (except for the javastations). If someone could help me with this, I wanna use an Intel Server with Debian or FreeBSD (that will be the tftp server) and some Sun Rays as X clients... thank you for your time. _ Do You Yahoo!? Re: SUN RAY 1 WITH LINUX
I have been running Gentoo on my Sun Blade 100 at work for 6mths, but have reverted back to Solaris 9. Solaris seems to perform better under severe memory contraints (measly 256MB in this machine). You are correct. Cheers, W. Ben Collins wrote: On Thu, Apr 03, 2003 at 09:12:29AM +1200, Warren Hughes wrote: Sun Ray server software for Linux is a lab project and not available for release. Sun Ray server software for Linux is a lab project and not available for release. Questions over market for this. WANRay (Sun Rays over routable WAN's with compressed protocol) is in a similar position, but more likely to ship. Cheers, W. SUN RAY 1 WITH LINUX
Sorry for sending to differents mailing lists but is on-topic for both lists. And here it goes my question: Does anyone know if I could use Linux under the Sun Ray 1? I have 12 and I want to use Linux for use the Sun Ray's 1 as X terminals (I have no longer budget for Sun maintenance), and I want to use an Intel server... did someone do this or knows anything about this issue? I know the Sun Ray is not a javastation so it doesn't help the JS Howto Thank you for your time. _ Do You Yahoo!?
