You'll have to run the first bit over serial console. After configuring
networking, you can switch to a network console over SSH:
http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/sparc/ch06s03.html.en#network-console

Thanks,

I'll give the serial port a try.

Your best bet is probably to unplug the keyboard/mouse, and use a
dumb terminal hooked to serial port A ; you can also use a common
null modem cable between serial port A and another machine serial
port running a terminal software such as minicom.

good luck,

You can do an installation using a serial console (i.e. a serial cable going
between your SPARCstation and a PC running a terminal program).

Whether you can fix it without reinstalling depends on how it is broken...

David.

SparcStation 5 reinstall

2005-09-28 Thread Mats Hellman

Hello list,

I have an aging Sun SparcStation 5 that’s been running
debian for testing. I messed it up pretty bad a while ago and now I need to
reinstall the base to get a fresh start.

My problem is that I no longer have a monitor for it. So I
was wondering if anyone knows a way to get into the install system over SSH or
if it’s possible to have it redo everything from within the existing
installation.

Thanks for any replies,
