In case anybody comes in the same rush ... you need to
install "firmware-qlogic" _before_ installing linux-image. In case you do
after, you need to rebuild the initial ramdisk! (And no, it doesn't work with
bpo kernel)

With kind regards, Jan.

I did read the release notes allready ...

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp/lib$ find -name "sym53c8*"
./modules/2.6.18-2-sparc64/kernel/drivers/scsi/sym53c8xx_2
./modules/2.6.18-2-sparc64/kernel/drivers/scsi/sym53c8xx_2/sym53c8xx.ko
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp/lib$ find -name "qlogic*"
./modules/2.6.18-2-sparc64/kernel/drivers/scsi/qlogicpti.ko
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp/lib$ find -name "sungem*"
./modules/2.6.18-2-sparc64/kernel/drivers/net/sungem.ko
./modules/2.6.18-2-sparc64/kernel/drivers/net/sungem_phy.ko

hmm ... Okay .. looks like all needed modules are there.

helios:~# rgrep sym53c8 /etc/
helios:~# rgrep qlogic /etc/

And hopefully the modules gets loaded by hotplug/discover voodoo.

With kind regards, Jan.

Not sure if there are known issues for that specific model, but there are
general issues. See:
