I followed the instructions given by README.txt in the directory above. Most UltraSPARCs have a PROM bug that prevent them from booting from floppy. You therefore have 2 _other_ good choices: 1) Boot from CD 2) Boot over the network Or, upgrade our OBP to the latest revision. Look at sunsolve.sun.com for updates. Regards Martin

They tend not to work very well. Try tftp boot (using the tftp image in the sun4u directory), or try a CD boot using the ISO images on ftp://cdimage.debian.org/ -- ---===-=-==-=---==-=-- / Ben Collins -- ...on that fantastic voyage... -- Debian GNU/Linux \ ` [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] ' `---=--===-=-=-=-===-==---=--=---'

Trouble installing on an dual-168MHz Ultra2
Hi! I am attempting to do an ftp install using floppies. Currently the Ultra2 has Solaris installed; I am trying to install Debian 2.2 potato. However, none of the floppies that I obtained from ftp://ftp.cerias.purdue.edu/pub/os/debian/dists/potato/main/disks-sparc/... will boot. rescue.bin gives me something like "SILInvalidInstruction" and the others are "Bad magic number". I followed the instructions given by README.txt in the directory above. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. :) -- wca pgpIDV1urrMfO.pgp Description: PGP signature
