sunlance broken in current sparc32 installer
Hi! Yesterday I needed to netboot one of my SS10s, so I grabbed the current boot.img[0]. Unfortunately, the kernel's broken somewhat, as there are unresolved symbols in (at least) sunlance. Which therefore doesn't load and makes netbooting Sarge de facto impossible on machines with LANCE ethernet. In the installer it looks like +Ä+ Detecting network hardware +ÄÄ+ | +ÄÄ+ [?] Detect network hardware +ÄÄÄ+ | | | Error while running 'modprobe -v sunlance' | | | || | | Loading modul| Continue | it | | Ethernet'... || | +ÄÄ++ + and from a shell: ~ # cd /lib/modules/2.4.27-3-sparc32/kernel/drivers/net/ /lib/modules/2.4.27-3-sparc32/kernel/drivers/net # insmod sunlance.o Using sunlance.o insmod: sunlance.o: unresolved symbol crc32_le_Ra34f1ef5 Of course, one can just use the Etch installer, but that doesn't change the fact that stable's currently broken. Which package should I file a bug against, if any? 0: from http://ftp.at.debian.org/debian/dists/stable/main/installer-sparc/current/images/sparc32/netboot/ where current's a link to 20050317sarge1 cheers, rw -- -- Those who cast the votes decide nothing. We are working to correct this for the r4 release. Cheers, FJP [1]http://www.debian.org/releases/sarge/debian-installer/index.en.html#errata pgpoGuho0s8lq.pgp Description: PGP signature
sunlance
Anyone had problems when creating kernel 2.4.18 with it crashing out at the sunlance drivers?? I'm running Debian Woody on a SPARCstation 5. I have a feeling I have missed something from the config but I cant seem to figure out what! It's driving me nuts. Any help would be great! Anyone had problems when creating kernel 2.4.18 with it crashing out at the sunlance drivers?? Just to be sure, are those kernelsources from the debian-archive or are those directly from kernel.org? Have you tried using the config from the debian 2.4.18-image? Just strip everything you're sure you don't need. hth Thomas -- Every increase in the size of government necessitates a decrease in an individual's freedom. -- Christian Harold Fletcher Riley -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
