Non, je n'ai pas fait ça. Si nécessaire, je tenterais l'expérience,

Abiword et correcteur - crash

2008-01-27 Thread Francois
Bonjour

 Można mountować z poziomu ROOT'a :-)

automatycznie zamontowana.

asegure compatibilidad 100%.
Linux tampoco me voy a quejar.

OT DHCP BIND AD

2008-01-27 Thread Antonio Trujillo Carmona

algo a alguien.

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/archive/interopmigration/linux/mvc/cfgbind.mspx?mfr=true

http://www.vivaolinux.com.br/artigos/verArtigo.php?codigo=4020pagina=1

http://www.linux-mag.com/id/744?r=s

duda, y descartar otras cosas

cat /dev/urandom /dev/sdN.

The default is 10, as your logs show.

If you download using fetchmail then put:

This means no limit, which is good because you may have more than 150

sure, just cp the .debs from /var/cache/apt/archives and then install
 them.
Or install apt-proxy on the desktop system, and point the laptop's
sources.list at the desktop instead of the real sources.

He says the laptop has no network connection - see above.

So he does. Then he must copy the contents of
/var/cache/apt/archives piecemeal via DVD-R, or similar method.

Or... realize that difficult choices must be made when dealing with
old hardware. In this case, the Desktop needs to download a DVD
.iso, or the first couple of CD .ISOs, and have the laptop install
that way.

There are two ways that I communicate with my Windows/Mac friends.
 Either is OK.

 1) Both of you establish and account on Free World Dialup:

On Linux, use Ekiga. Ekiga will connect to multiple accounts, so you
can have your Ekiga account and your FWD account active at the same

There are plenty of SIP service providers out there. If you want to
safely experiment, use only those that don't require your credit card to
register for starters. You won't be able to send calls out to normal
phones, but you'll get the feeling.

On Windows/Mac, use the Sjphone: http://www.sjlabs.com/
It is a very good sip-phone. The one for Linux is good too, but it is
not free software and it does not connect simultaneously to multiple

They are also a nice SIP provider as-is: http://sipphone.com/ . e.g: to

the locked file. But depending on the context, one doesn't always want
the lock to disappear if the program couldn't do the necessary clean-up

Thanks. It looks as if I'll be using fcntl locking. And I believe that
lockf is implemented as a front end to fcntl, from what I've heard,
though as far as I know its specification doesn't require it to be
implemented this was.

Someone has asked me if doing it this way is compatible with Windows. I
have no idea. I haven't programmed for Windows in ages.

I also use symlink locking, which is also NFS safe, mainly in my shell
scripts, because this is quite easy in this context. And one can put
interesting information in the symlink contents (the symlink doesn't
have to point to a real file). See what Firefox does for instance (the
 lock is in the profile).

What is symlink locking? If firefox uses it that probably accounts
for the weird links I see around now and then. It does seem to
unlock upon killall, too. Betcha it won't work in Windows :-)

If you want ordinary users to be able to mount a specific filesystem,
 just add the user option:

version to be releasing. Am I right that this is the version in use?
If so that does not support my ethernet connection and I will have to
look elsewhere for a Linux to use.

My ethernet adapter is an ATTANSIC Gigabyte L1 (also released since the
takeover of ATTANSIC by ATHEROS as the ATHEROS Gigabyte L1.

It may be possible to find driver code that you can compile
and insert into your server. I recently did this for an
Attansic 10/100 L2 adapter that came built in to the motherboard
of some new machines that I wanted to keep at stable. The
driver code was on the CD of software that came with the mobo,
and worked fine -- in this case it was the atl2 driver.

A quick google reveals a link to a vendor version of your
driver at http://atl1.sourceforge.net/, first link under the
heading Vendor version. I'm not linking to the thing itself,
because there's lots of other good info on that SourceForge page
that might help you.

Another alternative, if you want to stay with a stock kernel,
is to put a different NIC in the box. NICs are cheap, and there
are lots of gigabit ethernet cards that have had Linux support
in the default kernel for years.

Or, as others have suggested, you can try Debian
testing/lenny, or upgrade the kernel only.

For example, to document all the fonts on the system, you can

Re: Installing KDE4 on Sid

2008-01-27 Thread David Baron
Decided to try it:

1. In /etc/profile, moved all the old /opt/kdedir stuff to last on path,
ld_library_path.
2. /etc/init.d/kdm restored to the maintainers version (I had changed it to
run the old kde3.5).
3. Ran ldconfig
4. /etc/init.d/kdm start

Got the new, default configured login dialog. Logged in.
Got the new splash screen.
Then the slew of crash boxes.

Before I changed the PATH stuff, I got knotify4 crashes only. KDE 3.5 came
up.
Now got crashes of kcminit and most everything else.
When I had a taskbar, it showed kde3.5 and an app such as kmail listed the
kde3.5.6 versions.

Additionally, kdm ALWAYS gives:
Previous KDM did not end with share/config, could reek havok.

Very encouraging, but after putting stuff back to my kde3.5 paths and kdm, I
am up and running without any crashes.

In addition to all those missing kcmshell menu items in kcontrol and the
configure menu, the following problems were encountered in kde3.5:
1. kmail send configuration was gone. 1 Minute to replace and stuck even
after
today's errors. Everything else just fine.
2. Opera has become the default browser when using the bookmarks menu. Opera
does not work with opera %s type calls, however.

OK. How do I get kde4 to come up?

I can certainly expect all those crashes if certain kde4 utilities such as
knotify4 run on top of kde3 (dolphin, kpackage with smartpm and others
actually work quite well but this is not the objective).

I see nothing in the new kdmrc or such that would be calling the old stuff and
I put it at the end of any PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH chains.

Hmmm. It shouldn't. Grep /etc/udev/rules.d for sg. Maybe that
will provide a clue.

This is important because ususally when acquiring new cartridges the

necessary on ink printers. So far I need ms$ to do that, bu there may
be already applications under linux for this purpose...

If someone is aware please let me know, :)

If you want it to be sda1 instead of sda, try making a partition on it.

OTOH, if you want it to be sda1 because you don't want to modify your
fstab, you could try using pmount instead of mount. 'aptitude show
pmount'.

Checkout udev if you want it to have the same name each time you connect
it, you can name it whatever you want.

Hi, then try modifying you /etc/fstab to point to /dev/sda and not
/dev/sda1. Looking from your post, you can mount /dev/sda and not
/dev/sda1, your fstab on the other hand only gives normal permission

It's a little bit puzzling why there is no number, it might be because
you meant you mounted /dev/sda1, in which case I'm totally wrong and

There is good information here:

The first part about finding the raw keycodes, etc. is probably not

Many Window Managers and Desktop Environments have support
for the app launcher keys, and xbindkeys can be used in WMs that

No. I don't want to go back into my archive of 20,000 d-u posts and
find your OP and read it in close detail now that we are several
levels into this thread. Do you see? You are asking for help but
asking the helpers to jump through hoops because you are unwilling to
  repeat yourself. . .

Hmm..., maybe it is time to view the d-u posts on news client via gmane
(gmane.org) now. You will love it, and people don't need to quote or
 repeat excessively.

Please be aware that some of us have only intermittent internet
connectivity. We batch download mail, and read it and compose replies
offline.

 Thanks

You don't need the same client on Windows and Linux. I would use SIP
phones since I have found them the most reliable and the most
widespread. That will change as IAX becomes the norm (I think).

There are two ways that I communicate with my Windows/Mac friends.
  Either is OK.

  1) Both of you establish and account on Free World Dialup:
  http://www.freeworlddialup.com/

On Linux, use Ekiga. Ekiga will connect to multiple accounts, so you
can have your Ekiga account and your FWD account active at the same
  time.

There are plenty of SIP service providers out there. If you want to
safely experiment, use only those that don't require your credit card
to register for starters. You won't be able to send calls out to
normal phones, but you'll get the feeling.

Agree entirely - both FWD and Gizmo are free as in beer. Gizmo does
have a Call out service that lets you connect to the regular
telephone network. That part, of course, costs money.

SNIP

 They are also a nice SIP provider as-is: http://sipphone.com/ . e.g:
to get free 1-800 calls to the US.

sipphone.com and Gizmo are the same bunch. They seem to encourage
connection through Gizmo these days for some reason. In any case, the
Gizmo client is good for Windows and Mac users. There is also a Linux
one, but I have always preferred to connect through Ekiga.

Cheers,
Alan

Need to configure manually PPPoE,PPP,pppoeconf does not work for me.

2008-01-27 Thread alexandre suzuki
pppoeconf is useless for me,when I run
it detects eth0 but after some checks
it outputs:

Sorry,I scanned 1 interface but the
access concentrator of your provider
did not respond.Please check your
network and modem cables.Another reason
for the scan failure may also be another
running pppoe process which controls the
modem.

I have a SpeedTouch ADSL modem connected
through Ethernet and the modem is
configured through a webbrowser interface
and when I test using this interface the
connectivity all is OK and the 4 LEDs
of the modem are green:

DSL OK
ATM OK
Ethernet OK
PPP OK
IPOK
Internet OK

   Connectivity with the gateway(xxx.xx...)
   OK
Connectivity with the DNS server 1 OK
Connectivity with the DNS server 2 OK

However when I use a webbrowser to access
a webpage it tries and I see the address
bar of the webbrowser changing rapidly
between two http addresses of my ISP and
repeating the same.

http://xxx.xx.xxx.xx:/parse-query.php?GEDSTART...
http://something.myISP.xx/images/errors/jst_tests.html...

and I don´t see anything(white window) in the browser
window.I suspect I need to do manually what pppoeconf
could not do and I need help and instructions to
configure manually pppd and pppoe to access the
Internet.

  Thanks.
