Re: Virtualitzar servidor linux

http://www.jmarior.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=368

He estat buscant he trobat una solució però segueix sense funcionar-me, la poso
per si algú s’ha trobat i sap per orientar-me una mica.

L’error es el següent.

Loading sd_mod module
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi-hostadapter, errno = 2

 echo 'alias acsi_hostadapter BusLogic'/etc/modules.conf
 mkinitrd --preload=BusLogic --with=BusLogic -f
/boot/initrd-2.6.22.1-41.fc.img 2.6.22.1-41.fc

Però no dona resultat.

lenny : pb boot sur channel 2 en scsi

2008-08-03 Thread BULOT Grégory
bonjour,

kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.24-1-686 root=UUID=[trop long]. ro
quiet

A+

dessus :
Regarder le groupe associé à /dev/ttyS0 (uucp?)
$ ls -l /dev/ttyS0

Since Debian use the same soname packages name than my packages,

If you want to use vlc and friends you need to downgrade libavc*

Trixa med ipchains...

2008-08-03 Thread Magnus Ihse Bursie

tjänster (t.ex. wiki.ihse.net, mail.ihse.net).

Men.

N810:an/laptopen innanför eller utanför lägenheten.

Men fasen vet hur.

---
INSIDE=eth0
OUTSIDE=eth1
EXTERNAL_IP=77.110.63.65

aptitude show xserver-xorg e pegar as dependencias, pedindo entao para
elas tb serem reinstaladas.

[Debian-Usser] linux-image-2.6.26-1-amd64 not supporting vmware-player kernel modules?

2008-08-03 Thread Javier Vasquez
Hi all,

I'm running unstable, and on the previous linux image version for
amd64 (2.6.25-2-amd64) I didn't have any trouble compiling the vmware
kernel modules coming with the latest vmware-player tarrball
(VMware-player-2.0.4-93057.x86_64.tar.gz).

However when compiling the modules for the same vmware-player version
but on latest linux image (2.6.26-1-amd64) I got a lot of errors. I'm
attaching the log of make-vmpkg -b deb_path -k -s
VMware-player-2.0.4-93057.x86_64.tar.gz

Has any one noticed this already? Is there any work around? I still
have 2.6.25-2-amd64 so I can stay with 2.6.25, but I wanted to know if
there's some one else trying the same...

Thx,

There are many wiki packages for Debian. Run this command:

 aptitude search wiki

I recommend mediawiki since it's the most popular.

But really not the simpler.

Dokuwiki does not use a database, it's really simple to install and manage.

Concerning the debian way of install a package on Debian, just use aptitude :
# aptitude install dokuwiki

of warnings at me, claimed Success! at the end, but in fact had
failed to build a package. So, I decided just to go with 'sh

good, but when I invoked googleearth, as an ordinary user, I got an
authentication error. So, I googled that, and learned that I needed
to install lib32nss-mdns. Did that, and now I have Google Earth -
with all its cool new features - up and running; and I did NOT have to
remove my ~/.googleearth directory (as one googled answer had
suggested), so that all my saved sites were still listed.

It seems like you had problems beyond those which I encountered during a
clean install. I downloaded the GoogleEarthLinux.bin from the official
site, sudo chmod +x GoogleEarthLinux.bin and sudo ./GoogleEarthLinux.bin.

It installed just fine, and I am able to now run it as a ordinary user.
I didn't get any of the dependencies that you described.

This is on a pretty vanilla Lenny machine.

iptables blocks on any of the three systems, you still need to
 ensure:

 1) That cantor knows the route to joule (via dalton)
 2) That joule knows the route to cantor (via dalton)

In short, every step along the way needs to know how to route
 packets in both directions.

something you can do to help track it down is start a ping from cantor
to joule and use tcpdump at each of the hop and do a

tcpdump -pni in interface icmp and host cantor -c 10

and then a

tcpdump -pni out interface icmp and host cantor -c 10

Trace the packet all the way.

on cantor you can start of with

ip r g ip address of joule - note ip r g doesn't take hostname :(

once you know the next hop then you can ssh to there and do the tcpdump
thing

How can I find out the *reason* why a package is kept back?

A slightly different way to put what others have said: compare 'upgrade'
and 'dist-upgrade' in 'man apt-get'. You will see that the upgrade command
only upgrades things already on your system. It won't add new packages or
remove old ones - even to upgrade an already installed package. When you
get the kept back message, there is probably an upgrade that requires
adding things and (or) removing things.

Check what's going on, and then run 'apt-get dist-upgrade' to go ahead
and do it. The 'dist-upgrade' command is poorly named, since it's not only
for moving you from one major version of Debian to another (eg, Etch to
Lenny). My guess would be that the newer version of OO required new
packages that you didn't have installed yet.

Contrary to what most of us in the UK think - 'uk' is not the country

NFS unexpectedly starts timing out diring mount

2008-08-03 Thread Hendrik Boom
At home we have a file server (called april), which provides a central
filesystem (called /farhome) containing everyone's home directory.

It's been working fine for years, until yesterday,

Suddenly one of our machines (called shadow) cannot mount /farhome, ans
instead gets mount timeouts.

Another machine (called lovesong), which has /farhome slready mounted, just
keeps working.

Frankly, I'm afraid to reboot lovesong in case we end up havein go run all
our programs directly on the file server.

As far as I know, nothing has changed in the systen set-up. WHich
probably just shows how little I know. I have been doing regular security
updates on the server, of course; I don't know when the most recent one
was. april runs etch, with kernel 2.6.18-6-amd64. I tried rebooting april
into an older kernel 2.6.18-3-amd64. It didn't help.

I can ping esily between the two boxes. I can ssh from shadow to april,
too, so connectivity shouldn't be a problem. The permissions in
/etc/exports are the same as always, and identify the machines by IP
number, so DNS failure shouldn't be relevant.

Does anyone have deas how to track this down?

chkrootkit infected ports 2881

2008-08-03 Thread Adam Hardy
My webserver system is actually a UML slice of a system at memset.co.uk and all
it does is run Apache Tomcat and sshd and the stuff from memset - I thought it
was pretty safe until I came back today and found my nightly email report from
chkrootkit said:

The following suspicious files and directories were found:
/lib/init/rw/.ramfs

INFECTED (PORTS: 2881)

The .ramfs started appearing when I upgraded chkrootkit, so I never worried
about it, but Friday night's INFECTED alert was a slap in the face with a wet
fish. Saturday night's report went back to normal - no mention of the port.

I scanned it from grc.com/x/portprobe and it came back as closed.

The only mention I can find in the logs is:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# grep 2881 /var/log/*
/var/log/setuid.today:
2881 660 1 root disk 0 Wed Apr 30 11:32:37 2008
/dev/rd/c1d30

r

and that's a PID, not a port, right?

So how bad does this look? Should I clean the system? If it is rooted, how can I
tell what the security flaw was? My password at that point (since changed) was
CE0dff2*£ so if it was a brute force attack, then wow, they did well.

Thank you - I restarted xinetd and the port seems to be closed now (at
least according nmap and netstat). I guess since ident wasn't
mentioned in xinetd.conf, I didn't think to restart it.

xinetd uses separate configuration files for each of the services it
provides (assuming your /etc/xinetd.conf has the line includedir
/etc/xinetd.d per the Debian default). Part of the pidentd package is an
xinetd config file that is placed in the /etc/xinetd.d directory. When you
uninstalled pidentd that file was removed, but you still had to restart
xinetd for it to reread its config (which no longer included the ident
service).

The last Debian kernel that ran with vga=791 was 2.6.24. So I did a diff

Thanks for checking, Ron. That is because in 2.6.25 and later I can
*only* get framebuffer support by activating that particular entry,
recompiling the kernel, per

In this particular kernel I had ufesafb enabled.

Keyboard problems

2008-08-03 Thread Jordi Gutiérrez Hermoso
A long time ago, probably around March or so, my keyboard was fine. I
use three keyboard layouts, and I found that Alt+Capslock keychord
useful for switching between the three of them. It was so set up in
the Gnome preferences, and all was well.

At some point later during some upgrade (I track testing with an
occasional non-critical unstable package), this merry arrangement was
lost, and has been broken ever since. Now the Alt+Capslock keychord
isn't recognised, but if I go into the Gnome preferences and make any
modifications to the keychords use for switching keyboard layouts
(e.g. click and unclick one of the many other keychords available) it
works again, minus the minor discomfort that the keyboard capslock LED
toggles when I do the Alt+Capslock keychord. This didn't happen
before.

I have seen similar behaviour in other GTK+ apps. In Xchat, for
instance, I like Ctrl+Shift+n and C-S-p for switching between the
previous and next tab (looks similar to Emacs keychords, and feels
comfortable). However, I see a very similar behaviour in that
restarting Xchat makes the keychords non-functional until I go again
into the Xchat preferences and again make some random change to the
keychords therein and undo it immediately.

What's going on? It's freeze time now, and I want this problem to get
fixed when lenny releases, since my mom will be using lenny on her
laptop when it releases. I need help figuring out even what package to
file a bug for.

Thanks,
- Jordi G. H.

 interfaces file:

 auto eth0
 iface eth0 inet dhcp

This seems fine. Is there anything else in the file that could interfere?

I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

 Regards,

I am tring to install a wiki software on Debian (server) on my network.
But I dont know which wiki software is better for my project (it is not a
big project) and how i can install it on debian server. It it is possible
for you please help me about both (wiki software and Debian)

I'm using moinmoin for one site because it works with FCKeditor and I have
many non-technical users who dislike writing markup of any kind.

Once you install moinmoin-common and python-moinmoin, follow the
instructions in /usr/share/doc/moinmoin-common/README.Debian. Be aware of
this documentation bug:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=395137

For small project Dokuwiki works well.

While it's not in debian, I really like WikkaWikki

So why does nfs need access to the wider internet?

Does something in your exports file depend on a network
service? NIS/LDAP database for host groups, name resolution
for allowed hosts, or for the NIS/LDAP host?

  Just guessing.

Replying to myself here, I see that you already
mentioned /etc/exports uses IP numbers, so my guess has already
been eliminated.

Jest to erase all doubts, here is the /etc/exports file on april:

Funny. When I cut and pasted it into this page if but a line break in
front of the entry for 172.25.1.32 in teh commented-out line. No such line
break appears in the actual file (I checked using emacs). It inserted no
such line break in the non-commented-out lines.

You'll probably get a different answer from each person, but I think
ikiwiki is one of the best ones since it is very flexible and you can
easily get your data out of it again should you want to (unlike
 mediawiki)

I've heard ikiwiki has recently been integrated with monotone. I suppose
that could give a distributed wiki.
