de gnome vers fvwm

2008-10-04 Thread Pierre Allken-Bernard
Bonjour,

http://guides-info.org/linux/admin/fat_ntfs.php

sais
quelle diablerie : udev, hal, kde... ?).

manuellement :

saturne:/home/david# rm /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libswfdecmozilla.so
saturne:/home/david# rm /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libswfdecmozilla.la
saturne:/home/david# rm /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libswfdecmozilla.a
saturne:/home/david# rm
/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins/libswfdecmozilla.so

/dev/disk/by-uuid/41DA-401A /media/cle vfat
rw,user,exec,noatime,uid=1001,utf8,shortname=lower 0 0

UUID=41DA-401A /media/cle   vfat
rw,user,exec,noatime,uid=1001,utf8,shortname=lower 0 0

/dev/disk/by-uuid/41DA-401A /media/cle vfat
rw,user,exec,noatime,uid=1001,utf8,shortname=lower 0 0

UUID=41DA-401A /media/cle   vfat
rw,user,exec,noatime,uid=1001,utf8,shortname=lower 0 0

Merci.

PS : mon fstab complet :
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# file system mount point type options dump pass
proc/proc procdefaults0 0

2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-486.

Preciso montar o seguinte esquema, mas antes preciso explicar comoa
coisa funciona:

PS:.

 usuários do

/var/spool/mail utilize o comando mail -f /arquivo onde /arquivo é o
caminho para o arquivo do usuário.

Most routers I have dealt with come with a preconfigured internal IP
(usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1). Changing this is very specific to
a given router/firmware, so we will not be able to help here unless you
specify exactly what model/firmware you are running.

Same as above. Alice wifi-modem doesn't say anything to me. More helpful
would be to specify who built the modem and whatever other model number
and revision is printed on it.

You can use dpkg --get-selections packages.lst to get the installed
 packages and dpkg --set-selections packages.lst apt-get update
apt-get dselect-upgrade to install the same package list...

 But :
1 - check the command and Options, I did not use it for a long time and it
 might have changed ;
2 - you will loose the benefit of aptitude (the flag auto installed) on
 you new install

You can save the list of automatically installed packages on the old
system:

aptitude -F '%p' search '~M' auto-packages.txt

Then this should work on the new system:

aptitude markauto $(cat auto-packages.txt)

3 - Do not forget to use the same sources in the /etc/apt/sources.list

Now machines B-D no longer live on the private network but can ssh into

Now I know how to browse the internet on B-D

Can I do something similar with apt-get so that I can apt-get update and

physically moving the machines B-D to the private network 192.168.4.x with

Can you run a proxy on machine A? You can secure it very tightly, both
via its own configuration and via your firewall, so that it only accepts
local connections on machine A. Then you can do this on machines B-D:

ssh -N -L 31280:localhost:3128 $HOSTNAME_OR_IP_OF_MACHINE_A

This will tunnel port 31280 on B-D to machine A, from where it will be
forwarded to localhost (i.e. machine A itself) port 3128. This assumes
that your proxy on A listens for local connections on port 3128 (the
standard squid port). Then it will be as if the proxy was running on B-D
listening on port 31280, so you can set http://localhost:31280; as the
http_proxy variable on these machines.

If you cannot run a proxy on machine A then you can try to use tsocks on
machines B-D:

http://tsocks.sourceforge.net/

(Debian packages are available in main.)

It is about saving load to the remote host (a shared resources) which
provide data to everyone. If you have many hosts at home, running cache
service for package deb fies are good idea.

Use proxy server such as squid. Then it saves only ones you downloaded.

In what way would that help? I suspect both apt-move and mirror use

apt-move create local package mirror with packages downloaded to reduce
duplicate download. It seems good but I never bothered.

apt-mirror seems to make subset mirror of archive ... which needs to
require too much attention for casual user like me because it relied on
 package name etc.

proxy server just hold all remote data requests made via it. If it is
configured by http reuest time out in right way, you get good copies of
archive without specific package name requirement. I used to use it
while not caching noon deb files. I used to cache just deb files.
 Simple policy is the key.

I am running single machine these days so I do not do this.

For all of the routers I have configured, the IP address
of the router is set via the same web interface that you

 Hi all (especially Ron Johnson),
On another thread Ron said, Yes.  My router gets a routable
 external IP
address from the ISP, but I had to also give it an internal,
non-routable IP address (which I chose to be 192.168.1.251).

My question is: can you explain the steps needed to do this? I don't know
if it's something I can configure on my machine or if I have to change
 some settings on the modem/router.

Most routers I have dealt with come with a preconfigured internal IP
(usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1). Changing this is very specific to
a given router/firmware, so we will not be able to help here unless you
specify exactly what model/firmware you are running.
Hi Andrei,
Thanks for the answer. Yes, this modem has an internal address of
192.168.1.1 I also notice that I seem to always get the ip 192.168.1.70
which doesn't seem to change. My partner, connected to the same modem
always gets 192.168.1.62 . Since I am very inexperienced using DHCP
connections I have no idea if this is normal or not or if I can consider
this my static ip. I think Telecom Italia does its best to hide the
manufacturer of the modem. When I use a web interface for configuring the
modem I find the following information:
Name: Alice Gate 2 plus Wi-Fi
Hardware: L1
Software: AGA_3.2.4
Smartcard: Active (yes, there is a smart card you have to insert into the
modem.

A supplementary question for any Italian speaker out there.
I moved to Italy about a month ago and I have an Alice 7 Mega account
along with a Telecom Italia Alice wifi-modem. There is zero documentation
except for a stupid CD that only gives information for Windows (and a
tiny bit for Mac) but nothing for Linux. I am learning Italian as fast as
I can but I need some help in configuring the modem for port forwarding.
This can be done off list (unless people feel it would be in the general
interest to do it on list). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same as above. Alice wifi-modem doesn't say anything to me. More helpful
would be to specify who built the modem and whatever other model number
and revision is printed on it.
Yeah, I'd love to know this information myself. I don't believe Telecom
Italia is in the modem building business but I can't find any trace of a
manufacturer or model number on the modem itself. What passes for
documentation is no help either. Frankly I'm stumped.
Thanks again,
Jonathan

Yes.

Can I do something similar with apt-get so that I can apt-get update and
 apt-get upgrade
 over ssh without
physically moving the machines B-D to the private network 192.168.4.x with
 machine A?

Yes. But doing without ssh may be simpler and saves BW.

Run squid on A and let others access it. You need to set http_proxy
environment variable or use apt.conf setting for all A,B,C. Then you
save bandwidth.

Not generally.
WPA2 is an encryption standard. Using a Radius server adds an optional security
feature:
an authentification server, but is usually not needed for home users.
The most common way of using WPA2 in small private networks probably is
WPA2-PSK.

My Netgear WPN802 and the WPN824 offer WPA2-PSK (and other modes
backwards-compatible with WPA), and I suppose
most modern wireless routers/access points do.

Somewhere, somehow, this item got replaced with a file rather than a symlink

Whatever.

So ... to get rid of this repeated message, I moved the file and made it a
bonafied symlink. It works ... for a little while.

Then the message comes back and an actual file is there once again.

Any ideas?

It seems like your modem will always try to use the same IP. Usually you
can make sure it stays like this via the web interface, so you have to
look for something where you can specify the IP address allocated to a
specific MAC address[1].

If you really can't find your way through the web-interface you could
post some screenshots somewhere on the net, but be careful to obfuscate
any information you don't want to make public.

Need help installing ndiswrapper

2008-10-04 Thread Dennis Wicks

I am installing ndiswrapper and can't get it to complete properly.

In the INSTALL it states:

You need a recent kernel, at least 2.6.16, with header files for the
kernel. Make sure there is a link to the kernel source from the modules
directory. The command

  ls /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build

should have at least 'include' directory and '.config' file.

I have kernel 2.6.26 and I have installed both the kernel headers and the kernel
source but I still don't have the build directory and the required directory
file.

How do I get these setup?

TIA!!
Dennis

There are several apt proxies available:

  apt-cacher
  apt-cacher-ng
  apt-proxy
  approx

[I use approx; various readers of this list have their own preferences.]

Set up one of them on A, configure B-D's sources file appropriately,
and your ssh procedure should work.

thank you. I am familiar with apt-cacher, but not with approx which I can
 try.

However, I think that does not solve my problem. For instance
what if the A computer is running etch and B-D are running sid?
How can I get B-D to get software that has not been installed on A?

I'm pretty sure that it makes no difference what flavor A is running -
I assume that A need not even run Debian! The apt sources lists of B-D
will contain (with approx - I assume you can do similarly with the
others) references to the flavor desired, and A will fetch any packages
that are needed. My sources contain (on the machine that runs approx):

deb http://localhost:/debian/ sid main non-free contrib
deb http://localhost:/debian-multimedia sid main

Is there some smart way to set up a direct tunnel through A
and tell apt-get to go through the tunnel itself, instead of using
these caching methods which better serve other purposes.
(For instance since B-D run sid, I can cache on one of them for the others.

what software-backbone/port is apt-get using to get the software?

apt can use an http proxy; see 'man apt.conf' for details. So you
could set up one on A and configure B-D to tunnel in to it over ssh,
but I think that you are misunderestimating the flexibility of the
dedicated apt caching programs, as above.

Hi Andrei,
Yes I've already noticed exactly what you describe in the web interface and
I am familiar with a MAC address. I'm just wondering if I should leave
things as they are or configure the modem as discussed.
Here's the screen shot which looks exactly as you describe it. My machine is
the .70 one and its MAC address is along side it.
