Merci.
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Buenas .
Iptables commands do work instantly, but state table entries may not disappear until after their timeout. It has already been pointed out that the MASQUERADE target is not appropriate for access control, so you should not be too concerned if it does not work as you expect. If you were to delete a real iptables access rule, there would be no delay. Thanks for the clearing my concept. however i read some of the part via google that there is a file /etc/network/iptables in Debian from where all the startup scripts run for FW . may be i didnt got the correct idea out of it. as i am new and still learning. so i thought that rc.local is not an appropriate route to choose. I use iptables and its logging fairly regularly for troubleshooting, which involves altering and repositioning rules to see what's going on, and I know there is no delay after reloading the rules tables. If you type an extra rule at a command prompt, it will work the instant you hit return, assuming you have it right and it doesn't conflict with what is already there. It's easier to add it to the script in the right place, and reload the rules tables. The usual way to organise iptables rules is to have a script that runs as part of the boot sequence, usually also checking for the correct modules, starting IP forwarding, etc. It isn't a workaround to run it from an rc, how else do you think things are started on boot? If you want something that looks like a daemon, it's not too hard to make a start-stop script that will load and flush the iptables rules, check which ruleset if any is currently running and generally work as a pseudo-service. It's not something that Debian supplies, as a lot of people prefer to use firewall applications rather than deal with raw iptables rules. since the inception of my career i have been using Microsoft at server end. but since i have started learning Linux i dont know what is the attraction in it. i started liking command line. rather GUI. so i am not interested in Applications. -- Joe -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Generally speaking, how is the linux support for digital video camera? What about kdenlive support? If you get one with an SD card or other removable media, then you don't need to worry about whether the manufacturer plays stupid games with the camera-to-computer interface. Just pull the SD card and put it into a $10 card reader. Several years back I bought a low-end Sanyo Xacti for $150. My dad bought a higher-end one for around $600. I am not really happy with the low-light performance of mine, and the colors seem dull. My dad's (with a larger lens) seems ok. Those cameras produce mp4 files that ffmpeg tells me are h264 video and aac audio. I can edit them with avidemux on Squeeze. Kdenlive seemed hit-or-miss. If I remember correctly, it choked on the larger files but did ok with the smaller ones. I experimented with Cinelerra a bit, but I think I needed to convert the files to mjpeg or something similar (very large files). I haven't had any need to do a large-scale video project. I mainly am concerned with creating small clips to share with friends/family. I cut out the junk, resize, and convert to a less resource-intensive format such as xvid, theora, or mpeg2. In Squeeze the support for dual monitors changed. It is no longer in the configuration file, although it can be optionally placed there. Now multiple monitor a userland operation using the xrandr interface. This is nice actually and allows useful scripted configurations. Use the 'xrandr --query' to print attached device information and then use the device information to specify where the monitors are placed in the larger logical screen. I have the following in my init files. I will avoid mentioning the file I am using because I doubt you are launching the same way and it would just cause confusion. But this is how I turn on dual monitor support these days. if xrandr --query | grep -q HDMI2; then xrandr --auto --output HDMI2 --right-of HDMI1 fi Bob, have you tried this with two separate video cards? I tried this (with no xorg.conf) and it only sees my onboard video card when I run xrandr --query. If I create xorg.conf and get both monitors working, xrandr --query only sees the monitor that I'm currently using (the monitor that the xterm is displayed on, in which I'm running the xrandr command).
