Debian 9.9 - Issue with T480 touchpad

Hi,

I have been fighting an issue with a T480 touchpad. I am experiencing the
following problems.

- If a recover from a sleep/Hibernate - the left click stops working on the
touchpad. I can plug in a USB mouse but I have the same symptoms.
- I can use "sudo modprobe -r psmouse && sudo modprobe psmouse" and that
seems to restore the right click emporarly.
- It looks like the left key is "stuck" as it will get stuck on the Lock
Screen drag and random elements being dragged around.

I have tried with both the libinput and the Synaptic drivers without any
changes.

Is there anything else I could try?

le paquet source icedtea-web :


Arrêt de la construction du greffon du navigateur ne fonctionnant
plus avec Firefox 60.

En conséquence, le paquet icedtea-plugin n'est plus disponible dans Stretch.

That was my brain's interpretation, too... with the further thought
process that NEXT TIME... those of us who follow Debian-Publicity and
similar could help out by forwarding the most important of those
updates over here to Debian-User

Il faudrait savoir de quoi il retourne pour voir si c'est irrémédiable, ou
pas.

J'utilise également PRT (mais je ne suis pas encore en retraite…), d'une
manière un peu basique, sans compiler le code de Java.

Mon navigateur (Vivaldi) me télécharge le jnlp, toujours au même endroit.
Une ligne de commande dans mon menu applicatif me lance le jnlp.
/usr/local/java/jdk1.8.0_212/bin/javaws /home/jm/archives/StartProRealTime.jnlp

Le jdk8 de chez AdoptOpenJDK ne contient plus javaws, donc il faut en passer
par le jdk de chez Oracle.

Or just use du -m (megabytes) which makes numbers that are short enough

did you try "apt-get clean"?
It looks like the 6.3G in ./cache might be lots of downloaded .deb
packages stored in /var/cache/apt/archives

XFCE peut en effet très bien tourner sur cette configuration.
 A mon avis le problème sur un tout petit PC (avec moins d'un 1Go de RAM) n'est 
pas le gestionnaire d'écran (window manager) ou de bureau (desktop manager). On 
en trouve des peu gourmands et qui sont fort acceptables. Et on peut se passer

La charge excessive viendrait plutôt des applications graphiques elles-mêmes. 
Je doute qu'un navigateur web conforme à HTML5 + JavaScript récent 
(technologies utilisées sur la plupart des sites Web actuels) ou bien q'un 
LibreOffice récent (celui qui est capable de traiter, parfois imparfaitement, 
des documents en provenance de MicroSoft Word rcent) puisse tourner sur moins 
d'un gigaoctet (c'est moins que la plupart des téléphones portables actuels).

Maintenant, un vieux PC d'il y a 20 ans est parfaitement capable de faire 
tourner une distribution Linux d'il y a 20 ans. La question est alors de savoir 
qui en voudrait (moi, pas!).

Un tel vieux PC n'arriverait même pas à naviguer sur la plupart des sites Web 
actuels. Tous sont conçus pour au moins des téléphones portables de plusieurs 
gigaoctets de RAM.

Donc je maintient mon point de vue: utiliser en 2019 un PC d'il y a 20 ans 
(même avec une distribution Linux d'il y a 15 ans) relève de l'émotionnel et de 
la nostalgie, pas de la rationalité économique.

XFCE peut en effet très bien tourner sur cette configuration. Mais 
attention, Xubuntu m'a souvent semblé beaucoup plus lent qu'une Debian 
avec XFCE (idem pour des ordis plus récents entre Linux Mint et Linux 
Mint Debian Edition).
