Thanks.

Your device should be based on "RTL8822B" chip from Realtek, so you need
to install "firmware-realtek" package.
If after doing that you still didn't get a functioning network wifi
adapter you might need to build driver kernel module. [1]
This is what I had to do to get USB Bluetooth adapter from Asus to work
without issues, even though it is supported by kernel in "bullseye".

It is always the best to include extra information about your setup when
you asking for help.

At least output from these commands would be a start:
    $ uname -a
    $ lsusb -v -t
    # journalctl -b 0 --no-pager | grep -iE "rtl|rtk_|firmware"

If the output is long you can use "paste" service [2] and send us a link.

Re: Installing Debian11 on Lenovo P1 Gen5

I have installed the microcode package, but to no avail. What bothers
me is that the card is detected during setup, but then it's not. I
will try some other steps and see what will come out.

Thanks.

Markdown is intended for conversion into HTML and
other formats (see Pandoc), while remaining a read-
able plain-text file, which is compromise. You
don't need this compromise if the ASCII is your only
intended output.

My own quest for the formatting of ASCII files ended
up in GNU Troff, which can do all the standard ele-
ments of sturcutured documents, such as:

  1. Basic formatting, such as paragraphs, hyphen-
  ation, justification
  2. Lists: bulleted, dashed, automatically num-
  bered.
  3.  Footnotes[1]
  4.  Sections and subsection.
  5.  Tables.
  6. Wrapping of text around rectangular areas.

For a small demo to begin with, see the CoreOps
newsletter, which I typeset with GNU Troff:

   http://inversed.ru/CoreWar/CoreOps_02.txt

I have typeset this e-mail in GNU Troff, so make
sure to view it in a monospace font.

1. Yes, indeed.

That's really important. So if you don't know, type first ENTER,
then you are at the start of the line, then ~ then .

That's why I documented it as three characters -- Enter, Tilde, Period.
It's slightly less confusing that way.

To show it wasn't a false claim, you have to demonstrate that

  $ ssh LAP2 hibernate.sh

works (as posted 4 Feb 2023 11:24:37) whereas

  $ ssh LAP2 'type hibernate.sh'

doesn't (as posted 6 Feb 2023 19:54:20). You haven't done that yet.

Assuming that "sshd into LAP2" means what most people would understand
it to mean, then your following comments are irrelevant. When you
"ssh into LAP2" without a command following the characters:

  s s h  L A P 2

then you get a login shell. In that case, it's hardly surprising that
hibernate.sh will run. I think I've reread the OP "properly", and
logging in to LAP2 with ssh is not what it's about, presumably for the
reason given below.

Have you tried typing these two characters into your frozen ssh:

~ .

Just those two, at the start of the line (that's important).

David.

Without knowing what your hibernate.sh script does, it's quite difficult
to advise you on how to improve it.

Also bear in mind, I'm probably not the best person to give advice
on laptop-specific issues such as hibernation. I don't use a Linux
laptop, and I've never hibernated a system in my life.

Generally speaking, though -- if your ssh client is hanging, it's because
some process with stdout and/or stderr opened to the ssh client is
still running. That *one* process might need to have its output
redirected. The rest of the script can be left alone.

If that single process is the one that's causing the laptop to hibernate,
and doesn't end until the laptop is re-awakened, then you won't know
whether it "executed successfully" until the laptop is re-awakened.
Not seeing that process's exit status seems acceptable.

It's also conceivable that you're using the wrong command(s) to invoke
the hibernation. That part is 100% outside my experience, though.

gnucobol DEB is not available in Debian 11 (Bullseye). It is,
notwithstanding, available from older Debian 10 (Buster) and/or newer
