Hello all, I try the command to test my email connection 'telnet localhost 25', but it gives me the error: Trying 127.0.0.1... telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused However, I have '127.0.0.1 localhost' entry in my /etc/hosts file. SMTP transaction error
Hello all, I have just installed the debian fetchmail package and now I cannot download mail from my server. Before I install debian fetchmail package, I use popclient and it works perfectly. Now I change to fetchmail, it gives me the error: reading message 1 (2561 bytes) .fetchmail: SMTP connect to (null) failed fetchmail: SMTP transaction error while fetching from pop.hkstar.com I am sure I got the pop.hkstar.com server name right. When I change back to popclient. It also gives similar error. Can someone tell me what should I do to fix this problem. For more information, I include the output from fetchmail --version: This is fetchmail release 3.8 pl 0 Taking options from command line and /home/adyc100/.fetchmailrc Options for retrieving from [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Protocol is POP3. Server nonresponse timeout is 300 seconds (default). Only new messages will be retrieved (--all off). Fetched messages will not be kept on the server (--keep off). Hello all, I try to find the popclient package but I cannot find it. It seems that the popclient package has become obsolete. Can someone tell me which package has the popclient program. Mystique 220
Hello all, I am helping my friend installing debian 1.3.1 from a cdrom. My friend has a Mystique 220. Obviously, the xwindow packages in the cdrom does not work for this card. I want to ask which new packages should I get from one of the ftp sites and what is the correct procedure to install it. Please excuse my question if someone has asked it before. Thanks for the help. job delay problem
Hello all, I have a strange problem. After installing a new Debian system on my friend's system, there is something unusal happenes to his computer. When he types emacs in xterm or one of the six virtual consoles, it just stops and nothing happenes. He cannot kill this job by typing Ctrl-C. But when he types xedit or something like that, the job is executed immedately. It seems that something is putting emacs to become a delayed job. It also true that his mouse does not move very smoothly in xwindow session. The mouse pointer jumps from one position to another position. He does not have at in his system. Can someone point out some possible causes for such strange behaviour. Many thanks in advance!! Anthony -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] . rxvt
Hello all, I have a strange problem. When I am using xterm, my "backspace" key acts like Ctrl-H which is fine. However, if I use rxvt, my "backspace" key gives me rubbish. I do not understand. I thought if one key works in xterm, it should has the same behaviour in rxvt. Can someone tell me how to change the behaviour of "backspace" key in rxvt to normal?
