Android SDK: "The SDK directory is not writable"
Hello list, I'm having an issue with building my first project with the android-sdk package on Bullseye. I'm getting the error listed in the subject line (The SDK directory is not writable (/usr/lib/android-sdk)) which obviously makes sense, since we shouldn't be able to normally write to /usr/lib right? But that's the default place that the android-sdk package installs the sdk files. Is there an alternate installation method I should be using, or am I actually supposed to make /usr/lib/android-sdk writable by a user account? Thanks, Alexis
Re: Join the Debian Folding@Home Team!
Hi Curt, Yeah, unfortunately I don't think they provide download hashes. >Which one would I need to begin folding if I were to >throw caution to the wind and install one or all of them? The "client," >I assume (though often my assumptions have led me astray). Yes, the client would be what actually performs the folding itself. I would also recommend downloading "fahcontrol" as well, as this allows more advanced control of the client than the web interface does. "fahviewer" is optional, it just provides a graphical visualization of the protein you're currently folding. -Alexis

Hi Bob, > I am currently running Fedora 31. Can I participate? Yes definitely, Fedora 31 is supported, and there are .rpm packages available on the site. All the different versions can be found here: https://foldingathome.org/alternative-downloads/. Feel free to join the team if you want as well, there aren't any joining requirements. -Alexis

Join the Debian Folding@Home Team!
Hello all, For anyone who is unaware, the Folding@Home project is a distributed computing project aimed to help scientists develop new therapeutics for a variety of diseases by the means of simulating protein dynamics. This includes the process of protein folding and the movements of proteins, and is reliant on simulations run on volunteers' personal computers. I'd like to encourage everyone who is willing and able to contribute your spare CPU/GPU cycles for Folding@Home to do so (for example, if you have a home server, or a computer that is running fairly often), and if you already are doing so, I encourage you to join the Debian team. I just started and joined the team myself, but our team only has about 7 active CPUs in the last 50 days. It would be great if more people could contribute as part of the Debian community. Here's a link to the team info: https://statsclassic.foldingathome.org/team/2019 For installation, you can download the Debian package from the website: https://foldingathome.org/start-folding/. There is also a Docker image and a vSphere Appliance available. Thanks, Alexis
