Subject: libc6 and db

How can I use a db to add accounts to my system?

I add to /etc/nsswitch.conf db in passwd field. Then I put a passwd file
processed by makedb in /var/db/passwd.db. strace tell that (for example)
finger load the db file, but then seems to not take care of it. Maybe the
source (ascii) must be coded in a format different to the plain password
one?

Thanks.

Description: procps patch for[2.1.42] kernel and glibc

procps 1.12 compliled with glibc for [2.1.42] kernels

1997-07-10 Thread Andrea Arcangeli
I have patched procps_1.12.2.tar.gz source debian package to be compiled
with libc6 (glibc) adding the meminfo patch.

You can find it here:

ftp://dida43.deis.unibo.it/pub/debian/local/patch/

If you have the file original procps_1.12.2.tar.gz from the debian tree
you need only patch_2.1.x_procps.1.12.gz or you can download the intere
procps_1.12.2_glibc_2.1.42.tar.gz just patched for you.

If you are a debian user you will find the binary deb packages too.

I done this patch because procps_1.12.2.tar.gz not works for me using
2.1.42 kernels and because xcpustate of procps.1.02 not works for me (??).

Well, true, but it was linked against Motif 1.2 which make it useless

0   \004%!  filter  /usr/bin/gs  -q -dSAFER -dNOPAUSE -r360x360

ppp with kernel 2.1.35 (netmask)

1997-04-25 Thread Andrea Arcangeli
I am using 2.1.35 kernel and when I run 'pon' I receive this message:
---
Apr 25 01:44:20 arca kernel: ppp0 UP fl=0051 pa=9EA4B8C2/
brd= dst=82A4B8C2
Apr 25 01:44:20 arca kernel: pppd forgot to specify route netmask.
---

How do I set /etc/ppp/option to do it correct?

Thanks in advance!

ucbmpeg and libX.so.6

1997-02-28 Thread Andrea Arcangeli
I have installed the ucbmpeg package:

# dpkg -i /iomega/debian/ucbmpeg_1r2-2.deb
Selecting previously deselected package ucbmpeg.
(Reading database ... 25046 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking ucbmpeg (from .../debian/ucbmpeg_1r2-2.deb) ...
Setting up ucbmpeg (1r2-2) ...

but if i try to run for example mpeg_play:

# mpeg_play
mpeg_play: can't load library '/usr/lib/libXt.so.6'
Unknown error
mpeg_play: can't load library '/lib/libXt.so.6'
Unknown error
mpeg_play: can't find library 'libXt.so.6'

I have also linked /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6 in /usr/lib and /lib but
nothing is changed.

Why?

Re: lprm says Permission denied (fwd)

1997-02-26 Thread Andrea Arcangeli

Hi!

something must be wrong with my lpd-setup. When a user starts
a print job, s/he can't cancel it anymore. Example: (user 'spiegl')

 $ lpr abc.txt
 $ lpq
 lp is ready and printing
 Rank Owner Job Files Total Size
 active spiegl 27   abc.txt   47978 bytes
 $ lprm 27
 cfA027Aa00860: Permission denied
 cfA027Aa00860: Permission denied

 $ ls -laF
 total 54
 drwxrwsr-x   2 root lp   1024 Feb 24 01:39 ./
 drwxrwsr-x   4 root lp   1024 Feb 23 23:12 ../
 -rw-rx   1 root lp  4 Feb 24 01:39 .seq*
 -rw-rw   1 daemon   lp 86 Feb 24 01:39 cfA029Aa00872
 -rw-rw   1 spiegl   lp  47978 Feb 24 01:39 dfA029Aa00872
 -rw-r--r--   1 root lp 18 Feb 24 01:39 lock
 -rw-rw-r--   1 root lp 25 Feb 24 01:39 status

 $ ls -lAF `which lpd` `which lprm`
 -rwsr-sr-x   1 root lp  13157 Nov 24 21:04 /usr/bin/lprm*
 -rwxr-xr-x   1 root root41417 Nov 24 21:04 /usr/sbin/lpd*

Is there anything wrong with the permissions? I didn't change
anything after installing Debian 1.2 and updating to Debian 1.4.

I have the same problem using the lpr pakage in the rex-fixed.

Now I have installed the

ii lprng 2.4.2-1lpr/lpd printer spooling system

that replaces the lpr pakage and all work fine :).

Thanks a lot in advance,
 Andy.

Bye
