new installation

2001-08-01 Thread Ari Sigurðsson
Hi,
on my new debian installation some things are different,
I can't find my 'mail' command, and mutt does not behave
the way I like. I want it to download mail to my local mail
folder and read from there, but It always loads /var/spool/mail/username,
and asks to move read messages to local folder.

please help

thanks

2001-02-28 Thread Ari Sigurðsson
hello, I recentrly upgraded my kernel to 2.4.2, I have two network card on
my debian 2.2 system, and I am using ip_forwarding for a local subnet.

before I updated to 2.4.1 I never saw this message,
2.4.1 showed this sometimes,
but now at 2.4.2 I am getting this at regular intervals
can anyone tell me what this means?

x.x.x.x sent an invalid ICMP error to a broadcast?

the ip is a remote computer, a gateway or something?

and/or how to fix this?

thanks in advance

Hello, I have debian 2.0 and I am trying to play cd from
the console, so far I have tryed to compile 2 different
cd players with no luck. nothing but errors and warnings.
the ones I have tried are.

   cdplayer 0.1 beta 1
   Copyright (c) 1997 Flavio Lerda

and

   cd-console 1.5

can anyone tell me where to find a player for my debian?
all the players I have tried for X work so it's not my cd rom
it's the compiling (or linking?).

have problem with samba

1999-09-02 Thread Ari Sigurðsson
smbclient -L skrappur

Added interface ip=192.168.0.2 bcast=192.168.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0
Session request failed (131,130) with myname=HRAPPUR destname=SKRAPPUR
Called name not present
Try to connect to another name (instead of SKRAPPUR)
You may find the -I option useful for this

this did work when skrappur was running in Linux Red Had 5.2 but this
happened
when it was running windows 98.

anyone got any idea?

Re: smbumount doesn't

1999-09-02 Thread Ari Sigurðsson
if rebooting the puter is a solution to samba problem then
perhaps a restart of samba is enough?
try

/etc/init.d/samba
Usage: /etc/init.d/samba {start|stop|restart}

I allready did get the xpm4.7 installed it correctly *I think*, still no
success
with the communicator libc5 version, then I did as you suggest and
downloaded
the libc2 and is working very fine at the moment. But..
I do not understand this libc5 and glibc2 what are they and their
difference?
