new installation
Hi, on my new debian installation some things are different, I can't find my 'mail' command, and mutt does not behave the way I like. I want it to download mail to my local mail folder and read from there, but It always loads /var/spool/mail/username, and asks to move read messages to local folder. please help thanks Ari Sigurðsson
install loop
hi, in was installing with rescue disk because my system was broken, I am now able to boot with lilo but I always get Debian Configuration and I want to configure the system myself or use existing configuration as much as possible. But debian config. won't let me exit or finish, it goes in loop! how do I remove config from startup? TIA Ari Sigurðsson
First boot sector doesn't have a valid LILO signature
computer won't boot after some hard disk failure, I can mount and see files and I'm booting with disk and trying to run lilo again but I get, First boot sector doesn't have a valid LILO signature how can I fix this?

invalid ICMP error to a broadcast..
hello, I recentrly upgraded my kernel to 2.4.2, I have two network card on my debian 2.2 system, and I am using ip_forwarding for a local subnet. before I updated to 2.4.1 I never saw this message, 2.4.1 showed this sometimes, but now at 2.4.2 I am getting this at regular intervals can anyone tell me what this means? x.x.x.x sent an invalid ICMP error to a broadcast? the ip is a remote computer, a gateway or something? and/or how to fix this? thanks in advance Ari Sigurðsson

what's. eth0: XMT status = 0x400 or eth0: XMT status = 0x440 this appears sometimes on my screen, rather irritating. And how to I find out where to get a missing file that .rpm package depends on? and why this? rpm -i --force --nodeps package.rpm 5 min later.. rpm -e package.rpm package package.rpm is not installed ???
Debian newbie question
