Photo EXIF and IPTC management software?

2004-10-07 Thread Bengt Thuree

I am currently managing all my photos in Windows and using "iView
MediaPro" to handle EXIF and IPTC data.

I am looking for a tool that would handle a larger amount (a few 100 to
1+) of pictures and in an easy way manipulate the EXIF and IPTC data.
For instance: Choose a month or a day, and select multiple pictures to
input the common data in one go for the selected pictures. (Drag and
drop?)

The software could store everything in a separate database for speed
reason, but has to be able to store the data in the picture itself.

Would of course also like to be able to filter the pictures by choosing
for instance, China + Party + family + Beach or something similar.

MediaPro can do more or less everything, apart from the filtering
(possible, but not easy)

Would like to know what you guys are using and what software are out there.

Thanks in advance

/Bengt

-THANK YOU- to all that have replied to this thread! For my originally
stated purposes, I am going to try to go with Debian stable. I already have
the Knoppix version of Sid on my laptop, so I can continue to learn with
that too. Several of you have mentioned the "new installer". Can you
expand on that? IOW, where is it? Is it included with, say, the stable
30r2 CD set? It sounds like I should use it, but something about the posts
left me wondering if it's included with all CD sets or if it needs to be
specifically obtained from one of the branches. - John

apt-proxy-v2 status?

2004-06-09 Thread Bengt Thuree
Hej
I have been using apt-proxy on woody for a year now, and been extremly
happy with the result.

I am also looking forward to use apt-proxy-v2 which is, according the
homepage http://apt-proxy.sourceforge.net/ supposed to be quicker and
improved.

However, I can not find any later version of apt-proxy-v2 than 1.9.5
from 19 Nov 2002.

Is this version not been developed anymore?
If so, I wish I did know some python...
Hope someone can enlighten me to the status and future of apt-proxy.
Thanks in advance

Re: MailScanner setup with Postfix

/var/spool/postfix.in and /etc/postfix.in as well as /var/spool/postfix

assume that postfix.in is for all incoming mail and postfix is for all
outgoing mail. I seem to remember verifying this by using the
always_bcc command in /etc/postfix.in/main.cf and recieving copies of all
mail coming from an outside source, but not any copies of outgoing mail.
When I added it to /etc/postfix/main.cf I recieved copies of all outgoing
mail, but no incoming mail. So I am close?
If the above is true, where do I put the SASL and TLS parameters?
postfix/main.cf or postfix.in/main.cf?
Thanks.
Matt
Hej,
I simply got postfix to work in a non-MailScanner environment first,
and then simply copied the whole /etc/postfix sheebang to
/etc/postfix.in and made some minor changes.
Mainly to turn on defered, and to turn of SMTP listening.

I also reversed the names, since if you use gotmail (to fetch hotmails)
the mailscanner will not process the mails since they end up in the
postfix folder (which is the post-mailscanner folder). For gotmail to
work you need to have postfix as the incoming folder, and
postfix.outgoing as the post-mailscanner

Good luck

Cyrus/Imap and sa-learn?

2004-02-27 Thread Bengt Thuree
Hej,

I am wondering if anyone have any suggestions on how to do a cron based
sa-learn on a SaLearn.spam and a SaLearn.ham folder in Cyrus/Imap.

I want to move/copy misslabeld mails to these folders and have run
regurlar (hourly?) sa-learn on these folders (each user should have
them, about 10 users or so)

==> Will the fact that sa-learn is reading/touching the files affect
Cyrus/Imap? (The access flag for instance)

==> Do I need to stop Cyrus to read?

==> Any suggestion on how to move the contents of SaLearn to other
folder from the script. To clean up the SaLearn folders.
I want to keep all Spams in Spam folder, and Ham in other folders.

Thank you in advance for any and all answers

/Bengt

Did you add that to /etc/crontab, or did you do "crontab -e"?
/etc/crontab:
minute hour day month day-of-week user command
other crontab files (edited with "crontab -e"):
minute hour day month day-of-week command
And, can you run the command manually from a command prompt?
(the exact command as is specified in the crontab file)
Perhaps you can show us the /etc/cron.d/f-prot-installer cronscript.
(Or whatever you are using?)

MailScanner and Auto Update Virus definitions?

2003-12-03 Thread Bengt Thuree
Hej,

I am in the process of installing MailScanner with ClamAV and F-Prot as
antivirus solution on my Sarge installation.

I have seen that MailScanner should deal with the auto update of the
virus definitions, but I can not figure out if it is working or if I
have missed something.

Question

Am I supposed to manually start a cron job running the
/etc/MailScanner/autoupdate/f-prot-autoupdate
/etc/MailScanner/clamav-autoupdate
When I run these scripts manually the log file (/etc/log/mail.log)
indicates that virus definition has been updated.
(Had to change a path in clamav-autoupdate first)

The /etc/cron.d/f-prot-installer script indicates that MailScanner
should be run instead of f-prot-installer cron job.

Question

Will f-prot-autoupdate also update the f-prot engine?
(/usr/sbin/update-f-prot)
Question

Ok, perhaps I should ask a simple and direct question instead.
How do I turn on auto update of virus definitions and f-prot engine on a
Sarge installation (updated from a very very mini Woody)

Thanks in advance

/Bengt
