Re: Version of mount shows up as 2.16.2 ...should it be 2.20.1 ?

2014-03-17 Thread César Augusto Ramírez Franco
I get this on Jessie:

$ mount -V
mount from util-linux 2.20.1 (with libblkid and selinux support)

Please note I'm getting mount from util-linux and you're getting it from
util-linux-ng

What does `apt-cache policy util-linux-ng` shows?

Why do you need to skip texlive packages?

If you have installed "vanilla" TeX Live and you need to integrate it with
apt you could use the equivs package, here's a little how-to:

AMD FirePro M3900 versus fglrx-driver

2012-07-26 Thread César Rocha
Hi, folks!

I'm Cesar, from Brazil. I've been using Debian Squeeze on my desktop:
it has a ATI Technologies Inc M880G [Mobility Radeon HD 4200] so that
fglrx-driver works perfectly. But, I'm gonna buy a brand new laptop HP
Elitebook 8460w very soon so that machine has a AMD FirePro™ M3900
with 1 GB dedicated DDR3 video memory graphic card. The AMD and HP
sites only provide a driver compliant with the Suse Enterprise distro.
So my question is:

Is AMD FirePro M3900 supported by the current (Squeeze) fglrx-driver
(or will I probably have problems with that graphic card on Debian
Squeeze)? If so, I will have to wait until Wheezy release?

Sorry if I'm at the wrong place or I've sent this question to the
wrong mail-list.
And, again, sorry about my English.

Best regards,
Cesar

Gentes,

tengo en pruebas instalado Wine y logre instalar una

Hi,

Sorry I have very little info on this...no logs or anything:(

Running SID, with a custom 2.4.22 kernel, ext3 file system.

surface (advanced) check and was fine.

Did an update via dselect yesterday and after that the whole
system has died. When i boot the process stops at
INIT: version 2.85 booting
followed by a blinking cursor.

When i ran the upgrade the thing striking me as very odd was
under "new packages to install" 'kernel-headers 2.5.x.x.' were
mentioned.
Not sure of the exact version anymore but it was 2.5 for sure.
I think it was 2.5.99.
I was kinda flabbergasted by that and saw no reason why those
kernel headers should be installed...since i'm on 2.4.
So i went back into the dselect selection 'mode' and set that
kernel package to 'purge' so it wouldn't install.
This gave me a load of ' depends on kernel-headers 2.5.x.x. ' like
from gcc and so on.
Struck me as utterly weird aswell cause my system never had anything
2.5.xxx kerlnel related stuff on it...anyways...thinking 'dpkg knows best' i
let
it have it's way and the package in question was installed.
After getting the packages during install/configure something went wrong
aswell but silly me didn't pay too much attention since this happens
quite a lot with unstable and always gets resolved quickly...and
never ended in something like i'm having now.
Can't imagine the cause to be those kernel headers even if it's weird
they were installed, but one of the 20 orso packages which got
updated.

An older 2.4.18 kernel does go thru the entire boot process but
with may many errors mostly in the line of 'can't find /var/xx'

After that i tried toms floppy linux to boot the system.
mount /dev/hda9 results in just getting the'special device
not found message'.
And hda9 happens to be /var. fdisk shows hda9 as there and
as ext3 but i think the complete filesystem went out da door on
that partition.
e2fsck gives me a 'the superbloack could not be read or does not'
etc..etc..etc.

Any ideas on how to get out of this one?...and why this happened?

Cheers

starnge problem with dialup clients with pop3

2002-05-17 Thread César Augusto Seronni Filho
Hi guys, I am having troble with qpopper performace with some kind of client.
First I have one email server with sendmail and
qpopper. And I have 3 kind of email client, first kind is my LAN, second is
ADSL from Internet and the last is dialup laptops from Internet.
To send email, all my clients have exellent performace(so sendmail is ok).
To receive theirs emails, clients from LAN and ADSL works fast too, but some
of my
clients who try to receive their emails with dialup conection from Internet
works too slow and aways stop the transmition with +-40% of data received. :(
The mailbox of this clients have aways anexed files with +-1MB
The strange thing is that this problem on my dialup clients occours with some
accounts only. example:
When I try to receive the emails with one troble account on dialup client it
work slowly and aways stop to receive the message. But if I try another
account(who was working fine) on the same dialup machine its work fine and
fast.
So that problem is happening with some accounts only.

Ah, I try to use ipop3d and have the same problem :(
I configure qpopper with this options:
./configure --enable-servermode --enable-standalone --disable-status
--enable-chunky-writes=2
and i run it with this:
popper -R -F -s

Anyone can help me with this?
Any sugestion?

5 times, maybe a hw implementation bug, as other cards will list 5 or more
modes, but all modes with different resolutions/depth.

If I boot my test computer without the kernel framebuffer, the sis
card will work with the vesa driver up to 1280x1024.

Using the SiS driver, the card I have works with 4.0.2 using "NoAccel",
or the 4.0.1 driver.

Is Debian's 2.0 FVWM2 broken?

1999-03-24 Thread Julio César Gázquez
Hi!

After I installed Debian 2.0 (Hamm) some days ago, I found that X
crashes after a few minutes of use. Then I think it was some kind of
incompatibility, because my X server isn't from Debian distribution
(pretty newer chipset, just included, I think, in XFree 4.0). However,
using WindowMaker works fine.
Then, is packed FVWM2 broken (so beta?). Or are both guilts?
XFCom_Sis server worked great in Slackware, with FVWM 1.24 and older
libraries.

I solved your problem using a stand-alone POP client that download my
mail to my mail spool,
then I download on Netscape using a local POP server. Besides, you can
use any standard mail
client too, once you have your mail in the mail spool
The Debian has fetchmail as POP client, as far as I know, but I
installed Debian distribution
just a few days ago and I don't look how to configure it yet.
I don't know about what POP server Debian has, either, but I think you
can use it as it come
out of the box.
