Nagios in Stretch?

2017-11-08 Thread Charlie Grosvenor
Hello,
Can somebody explain why packages for Nagios existed in Jessie but have gone
from Stretch?

Is weird as there are support packages just not Nagios itself.

Thanks

fsck boot not working

2005-08-05 Thread Charlie Grosvenor
I used to run debian testing, i now run stable (clean install). It seems
that fsck at boot is not working on this installation, the mount count
on the file system is 59 and the maximum mount count is 5. Is there
something that I need to install / configure to get this to work?

It probably means that something - X perhaps - is accessing the
keyboard hardware directly. Plug the exact error message into Google
and you should get lots of useful stuff.

 Hi Charlie,

It may not be your server rejecting the message, unless of course it's
rejecting the instant you try to send it.

Generally, most servers don't allow messages above 3, 5, or 10MB due to
the load it imposes on the server.

The size of the email you are trying to send is huge, can you not break it
up a bit?

I manage mail servers in a Windows environment at work (so my Linux mail
server knowledge is quite limited) and I am constantly having to explain to
users why 50, 100, 500MB email messages are not being sent or received.

If this card is similar to the S3 Trio 64V card I finally installed
Xfree86 v 3.6, which comes ( thankfully) with Woody. If your video card
is older there may be better support in ver 3.6.

Woody Kernel 2.4.16-586 : modprobe: modprobe: cannot create /var/log/ksymoops/20020321.log Read-Only file system

2002-03-21 Thread Charlie Grosvenor
Hi
When ever I start my machines I get the following message
appearing on the screen over and over again.

modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module net-pf-1
   modprobe: modprobe: cannot create /var/log/ksymoops/20020321.log
Read-Only file system

The only way to boot the machine is to use a boot disk that was created
when Debian was installed. I know have two machines that are doing this.
Both are running Woody one has the 2.4.16-586 kernel and the other the
2.4.18-k7 kernel. I have had these kernels on these machines for a while
and they were working before, the problem seems to have just started all
of a sudden, it may have been caused by a package upgrade using 'apt-get
upgrade'. I updated one of the machines to the 2.4.18 to try and fix the
problem. Does anybody know why it is doing this? And how can I fix it?

Thankyou

Charlie

haven't for the third. DHCPD refuses to run and i get the following in the
daemon.log file:

I think this was answered (though not directly) if
you'll observe the recent threads that flew in this
 mailing list.

 a) Is Woody very very unstable and upgrading a real
bad idea or is it tolerable (or more than tolerable)?

Judging from the general mood here in the mailing list,
I'd say tolerable enough to use (just bear with some
quirks it still has...). The installer for Potato is
no longer actively maintained, and Woody's close to
being frozen (I sure hope so... maybe this year?)

 b) Should I point my apt-get to the unstable or
 testing versions in apt-get's sources.list.

Woody is currently in testing, though it is widely
believed to be close to being frozen before it would be
released as the next stable distro. So point it to
 testing.

 c) Is unstable called Woody or testing? What's Sid?

Sid is the unstable branch of Debian. Amazingly, unstable
is not so unstable as in unusable though there are
clear exceptions to the rule that exists.

I'd also like to upgrade to Kernel 2.4.xx and then
install KDE, would really appreciate any thoughts on
how I should go about that.

In woody, KDE2 is included in the list. Woody is also
2.4 ready, meaning you just need to slap in a new
2.4 kernel and you're ready to go.

Potato - grab Adrian Bunk's unofficial packages to run
 a 2.4 kernel in Potato.
