Yes, I can get the content that way :)
I had to convert i to utf-8 first and it is not comfortable to read but at
least I get the content.

It depends on what you need. Do you have analogous TV or DVB? Do you want just
watch or also record and timeshift and all those nice features?

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you have a text-file encoded in utf8 and it is
not displayed correctly? Then you can look at the load/save section of
kwrites preferences.
Or do you want to switch your whole system to utf8? Then try running
dpkg-reconfigure locales

Hi,

for DVB (digital video broadcasting) you could do that with the dvb-utils:

xzap -r
cat /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 > recording.ts

You need a suitable channels.conf file (example files are included in the
dvb-utils package) and you have to replace the x in xzap with t for dvb-t, s
for dvb-s and c for dvb-c. The .ts stands for transport stream which is a
special mpeg2 format (playable by xine or mplayer).

Hi,

when you want to hear sound from more than one program, you need multiplexing
(that is, mixing several audiostreams together). Best and easiest way is to
use a soundcard for which the alsa-driver supports hw-multiplexing (see
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/). There are also some sw-multiplexing
mechanisms available. eg arts which is part of KDE, gnome has it's own but I
forgot it's name. Alsa directly supports sw-multiplexing, too. You have to
setup a dmix device therfore (again see the alsa web page).

gcc / glibc problem

2006-05-29 Thread Christoph Nenning
Hi,

when I run a selfwritten C++ program on my etch box I get:
*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (!prev): 0x0813c8f0 ***

But on suse, kubuntu and Windows it runs.
We use qt4, boost and openCV. On my etch box I use the debian-packages while
these libs are installed from source on the other machines.

versions:
gcc: 4.0.4 20060507 (prerelease) (Debian 4.0.3-3)
libc6 2.3.6-7

Hi,

for USB joysicks the usbhid module is used. On Windows this is the same (a
generic driver for input devices). But some special features (like
forcefeedback) may work only with a special driver.
I use a Playstation2 to USB adapter which works great.

AFAIK there are not much wlan drivers in the kernel, so you have to find out
which chipset your card uses (with lspci) and install the driver manually. Or
maybe you are lucky and there is a package for that driver. And configuration
depends on the driver.

Hi,

you could try:
# mount -t -o loop,rw

Problem with boost

2006-04-21 Thread Christoph Nenning
Dear list,

we are using qt-4, opencv and boost in our project.

On my etch box dpkg -l libboost\* says:
un libboost-date- (keine Beschreibung vorhanden)
ii libboost-dev 1.33.1-4 Boost C++ Libraries development files
ii libboost-doc 1.33.1-4 Boost.org libraries documentation
ii libboost-files 1.33.1-4 filesystem operations (portable paths, itera
ii libboost-files 1.33.1-4 filesystem operations (portable paths, itera
un libboost-graph (keine Beschreibung vorhanden)
un libboost-iostr (keine Beschreibung vorhanden)
un libboost-progr (keine Beschreibung vorhanden)
un libboost-pytho (keine Beschreibung vorhanden)
ii libboost-pytho 1.31.0-9 Boost Python Library
ii libboost-pytho 1.32.0-6 Boost.Python Library
rc libboost-pytho 1.33.0-2 Boost.Python Library
ii libboost-pytho 1.33.0-6 Boost.Python Library
ii libboost-pytho 1.33.1-4 Boost.Python Library
un libboost-regex (keine Beschreibung vorhanden)
un libboost-seria (keine Beschreibung vorhanden)
ii libboost-signa 1.33.1-4 managed signals and slots library for C++
ii libboost-signa 1.33.1-4 managed signals and slots library for C++
un libboost-test- (keine Beschreibung vorhanden)
un libboost-threa (keine Beschreibung vorhanden)
un libboost-wave- (keine Beschreibung vorhanden)

and in our .pro file we have:
LIBS += -lboost_signals -lboost_filesystem `pkg-config --cflags --libs opencv`

but during building i get:
undefined reference to `boost::signalslib::trackable::~trackable()'

So what am i doing wrong?

Hi,

I had nearly the same problem with a Debian-Kernel xxx-i686 on a Celeron box.
With a xxx-386 kernel it works fine.
Hope that helps.

Hi,

as far as I know you need 64-Bit Windows drivers to work with ndiswrapper on a
64-Bit kernel. Maybe this is your problem.

As far as I know, those Linux based phones do not differ from others. On the
phone you have the usual menu interface (no command line, not even optional)
and the tools are just for Windows or maybe MacOS.

I had the problem that the font in some gtk apps was very small, e.g. xmms.
Installing the packages:

xfonts-75dpi-transcoded
and
xfonts-100dpi-transcoded

solved it for me.

Re: Is there a GPL substitute for RealPlayer?

2006-01-15 Thread Christoph Nenning

Hi,

to install a precompiled version of mplayer you can add this line to your
sources.list :

deb ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ testing main

to play all videos you should also install the package w32codecs

Problem with package linux-wlan-ng-modules-2.6.12-1-k7

2006-01-12 Thread Christoph Nenning
Hi,

I want to use a D-Link DWL-122 USB-WLAN adapter.
As I'am using Debian kernel 2.6.12-1-k7 I installed the package containing the
modules for prism2 (linux-wlan-ng-modules-2.6.12-1-k7). When I plug in the
stick I get

kernel: usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcdand address 4
usb.agent[7120]: prism2_usb: loaded successfully

in /var/log/messages

but lsmod tells me that the module is not loaded.

modprobe prism2_usb gives:
FATAL: Module prism2_usb not found.

and depmod -ae says:
WARNING: Loop detected: /lib/modules/2.6.12-1-k7/linux-wlan-ng/p80211.ko which
needs p80211.ko again!
WARNING: Module /lib/modules/2.6.12-1-k7/linux-wlan-ng/p80211.ko ignored, due
to loop
WARNING: Module /lib/modules/2.6.12-1-k7/linux-wlan-ng/prism2_usb.ko ignored,
due to loop
WARNING: Module /lib/modules/2.6.12-1-k7/linux-wlan-ng/prism2_plx.ko ignored,
due to loop
WARNING: Module /lib/modules/2.6.12-1-k7/linux-wlan-ng/prism2_pci.ko ignored,
due to loop
WARNING: Module /lib/modules/2.6.12-1-k7/linux-wlan-ng/prism2_cs.ko ignored,
due to loop

So what is wrong here???
