debian installer custom apt mirror

2015-01-24 Thread Dylan Bass
Hi,

I recently used apt-mirror to create a local jessie mirror on my LAN.
I have several computers and laptops that I need to keep updated daily
and this serves my purpose fine. I was wondering if there is a way I
can install Debian using a custom apt mirror instead of the default
mirrors in the Debian installer. Thanks!

wmdocker removed from testing?

2015-01-10 Thread Dylan Bass
Hi,

Long time docker user here. I followed the package name change from
docker to wmdocker, to avoid confusion with that software, but now it
has been completely removed from the testing repository. Am I the
only OpenBox user who misses it?

I bought a used Dell Latitude D531 laptop on eBay. I installed Debian to
it. I'm getting this error everytime on boot, and waking up out of suspend
mode. I would like to know how to fix or troubleshoot the problem.

pdnsd-1.2.8-par Caught signal 15.

2014-08-10 Thread Dylan Bass
Installed pdnsd on Debian Wheezy. Edited /etc/defaults/pdnsd to
START_DAEMON=yes.  /etc/pdnsd.conf defaults to resolveconf.  pdnsd doesn't
start on boot. cat /var/log/syslog |grep pdnsd says the following:

Aug 10 13:27:01 Lion-PC pdnsd[3209]: pdnsd-1.2.8-par starting.
Aug 10 13:29:03 Lion-PC pdnsd[3209]: Caught signal 15. Exiting.

Running service pdnsd restart starts the service and it runs no problem.
It just doesn't start on boot.

I noticed fglrx-driver has been removed only from the jessie repos. Any
reason why?

Debian Jessie Intel 915GM Suspend on Lid Close

2014-06-30 Thread Dylan Bass
I have an older Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop. It has an Intel 915 GM chipset.
Sleep on lid close on Debian Wheezy works perfectly. I just uncomment
"LID_SLEEP=true" in /etc/default/acpi-support to get suspend on lid close
working. I recently upgraded to Debian Jessie for various reasons, and the
sleep on lid close stopped working. My laptop also has function keys for
suspend and those stopped working too. The only thing that works is using
pm-suspend, but I have to use it before I close the lid. I was wondering
if this is a bug or not? Thanks.
