If yes, change your /etc/apt/sources.list to something like: deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ etch main non-free contrib deb-src http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ etch main non-free contrib deb http://security.debian.org/ etch/updates main contrib non-free deb-src http://security.debian.org/ etch/updates main contrib non-free then run try to run apt-get update, if you still get the same message as before, then run apt-get install -f and give us the output.
