Can't you clone the disk to another machine, then test the stretch
kernel and then run hybrid for a while?

The kernel is just the intermediate between the hardware and userspace,
shoulnd not cause too much trouble, if not you can always test it that way.

HDMI stopped working out of nowhere.

2017-11-30 Thread Jeroen Mathon
Hey fellow Debain users,

Today after booting up i noticed something rather unusual, the HDMI
display i used for work stopped working.
Yesterday i updated my computer, so i figured it could have something to
do with the kernel, so instead of using 4.9.0.4 today i also tried
4.9.0.3, unfortunately this did not make a difference.
I am running the following configuration:
```
02:00.0 Unassigned class [ff00]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTS525A
PCI Express Card Reader (rev 01)
```

I already tried as root to run `udevadm monitor` To see if anything
popped up when plugging and unplugging the HDMI cable of the monitor, I
also tried connecting my laptop to multiple other monitors, Different
models and different HDMI cables.

My computer has the latest intel graphics drivers installed as well.

Does anyone have an idea of why my HDMI stopped working so suddenly, i
am using the SDDM compositor with the KDE Plasma desktop environment.

Well, Azire is located in Sweden, so latency will always be a problem
from China.

Do not expect 1GB/ps or 100GB/ps internet speed from a public VPN
service, I am not sure how the internet exchange points are in China but
i think it could be that they rate limit outgoing and incomming traffic.

Check your average network speed to a few testing servers in sweden.

Do you have the UDP or the TCP version of the openVPN config, because
UDP will likely not work on your ISP.

See: https://github.com/Nyr/openvpn-install/issues/278

Re: need help on VPN

2017-11-20 Thread Jeroen Mathon
Hey Long,

It depends on the frontend you want to use, i my self recommend using
the CLI(openvpn) but you could also use the NetworkManager frontend.

For CLI simply run the following from a terminal: `sudo openvpn
./CONFIGFILE` then enter your credentials and your set, the
configuration and VPN server will push the required routes.

CONFIGFILE is of course the openvpn configuration you have downloaded,
as for Android you can install `OpenVPN for Android` and then import the
configuration to that.
