You should have better chance looking for âfont serverâ and âclient-side fontsâ. Basically, until around the time of Debian 3 the preferred method was the use of a font server: you configured one font server in the network serving every font under the sun to whatever X servers. Each X serverâs /etc/X11/XF86Config would point to the font server. But around the time of Debian 3 too started the migration to client-side fonts: the client â that is, the program requesting the windows to the X server, program which paradoxically runs in the host while the X server runs in the terminal â has the fonts. If you upgrade to Debian testing you should get client-side fonts quite automagically. -- Leandro GuimarÃes Faria Corsetti Dutra +55 (44) 3028 7467 ext34 Rua Guarani 361 ap 601 â Z4+55 (44) 3025 6253 87.014-040 MaringÃ, PR [EMAIL PROTECTED] BRAZIL http://br.geocities.com./lgcdutra/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". IPMasq denying localhost connections
I have a 2.6.7 Linux kernel system on testing, with an Ethernet interface to the cable modem and another to the internal network. With Linux 2.4 IPMasq worked OK, but with 2.6 I canât anymore reach localhost 127.0.0.1. This hinders me from using the squid proxy cache, for example. Actually they are not duplicatesâ For some reason things are mounted on (/media)/cdrom0, and (/media)/cdrom is a symlink to it. I suppose the idea is that one can have (/media)/cdrom[0-9] and choose a default by changing the symlink, but I never had more than a CD drive to check it. > What is the preferred mount point / or /media for peripherals? Depends on whom prefers what for whichever reasonâ Seriously, / was never a standard, but it was Debianâs practice, and and still is at least in stable. /media is the LSB standard, and should be configured in all new systems starting from current sarge. You can use Option "XkbOptions""ctrl:swapcaps" in /etc/X11/XF86Config or something the like. You can use an ~/.xmodmap file, probably created with xkeycaps. You can use the Gnome 2.6 Control Panel. Hotplug USB printer agent not remove'ing
I have a Canon BJC-3000 USB-connected printer, and for some reason it will quite frequently loose connection with the computer. I donât know if it is my toddler messing the cables, a defective cable, whatever. It shouldnât be a big deal, simply taking the cable off and on again does the trick as far as lsusb is concerned. The real, big, hugely annoying problem is called CUPS. The thing with CUPS is that whenever that happens, even if lsusb reports the printer again, it complains about âPrinter faultâ or something the like. Sometimes restarting it works, more often I have to recreate the queue. So I digged up a little bit and found out that hotplug should do it. Thus I went to /etc/hotplug/usb/ with mighty GNU Emacs, and created both a file named bjc3k.usermapâ: canon_bjc3k 0x0003 0x04a9 0x1051 0x0 0x0 0x0 0x0 0x0 0x0 0x0 0x0 âand a script called canon_bjc3k: #!/bin/sh case $ACTION in add) foomatic-configure -s cups -n CBJC3K -N "Canon BJC 3000" -c usb://Canon/BJC-3000 -p Canon-BJC-3000 -d s400a1.upp -o PageSize=A4 ;; remove) foomatic-configure -s cups -n CBJC3K -R ;; esac Only that whenever I take the plug off or on, it always execute the add action, never the remove one. So it is useless. ÂHints, ideas? That would account for HTML forms, but not email bodies or headers. And wouldn't account for *no* forms working. But I checked a specific form, and it don't have any such headers: file:///usr/share/doc/mozilla-browser/localstart.html. Mozilla dead keys
I am using Mozilla & Galeon at Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 PowerPC testing. I have an iBook with US keyboard, and use the US-intl keyboard which gives me Western European diacritical accented characters using the tilde, quote, apostrophe, circumflex and grave dead keys. The original characters are given by typing the key twice or followed by a space. I can use dead keys both in console and in X, using Gnome mostly. But I can't use them properly in neither Mozilla nor Gnome. The URL boxes are OK, but neither HTML forms nor email bodies or headers. I do not get neither accented character nor the simple quote, apostrophe, tilde, grave or circumflex. I already revised all my locale and keyboard configurations with help from the user-portuguese list, and no one could help me there. I am about to file a bug, but thought it might be expedient to raise the issue here. Thanks in advance. -- _ Leandro Guimarães Faria Corsetti Dutra+41 (21) 648 11 35 / \ http://homepage.mac.com/leandrod/ +41 (21) 216 15 93 \ / Lausanne, Vaud, Suisse fx +41 (21) 216 19 04 / \ Fita ASCII contra correio eletrônico HTML BRASIL -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
