I had a look but it wasn't very clear how you use it. There were no
numbers for the squares and I couldn't see how to enter words.

There're no numbers, that's right. I don't know enough Javascript
to put them, I've just adapted the algorithm from Manolo Toscano's one.

To enter the words, just choose them from the selection boxes.
To send me words, save the page of submitting in a file, and send it
to me. If you want to introduce words in a already done, then write
me saying what line and what word.

Sorry for the numbers, I just do them by eye.

But I'll include help facilities. I'll improve the help stuff.

I need volunteers for mirroring and public relationships( setting mailing
list, announcements to linux groups)...

BTW: Is there anyway to include a library of Javascript crosswords
in a Debian System, as a kind of 'info', I mean, all the crosswords
collected should be in the distribution. They're only 5 kb each in size,
and quite 'curious', they teach things.

Crosswords for Linux

1999-01-07 Thread Manuel Gutierrez Algaba

Have you ever been looking for any command that does anything?
Have you ever wondered what X4kge means?
Do you know what 'apropos' is ?

Well, I've decided to compile lots and lots of information, so
people cand find what they're looking for , and they can learn
without too much problem.

How? Doing croswords. Yeah, the crosswords will be useful for
creating a dictionary of terms and programs. And people will learn
easily.

Where ?
http://www.ctv.es/USERS/irmina/cruo/cruolinux1.htm

I've already done one. I'm interesting in crosswords for python,
gimp and Latex, too.

In the sacred name of the penguin , forgive me this kind of spamming.

consdiag v 1.0 released

1999-01-03 Thread Manuel Gutierrez Algaba

hello,

I've just finished my project consdiag, it can be found in
http://www.ctv.es/USERS/irmina/texpython.htm

It's a utility that makes Rumbaugh OO boxes in LaTeX, something
pretty useful for many computer science students.

I do want to several things:
- Please tell me if this utility is also useful for you
- if so tell me how to debianize it , or much better, debianize it
for me, although I'm not very sure of the process, because it's not
a C program , just interpreted python code , with a bit of documentation
- please, tell me if you can include it in the debian CDROM, I'd
be greatly honoured !

Please, if you know any other utility of this kind tell me, I need
them !

Data: I currently run RH 4.2 , with lots of libraries of Debian 2.0
Hamm , because gimp required them. It'd be great if a REDHAT2DEBIAN-HOWTO
existed. Linux ( Unix ) systems are not as Winblows systems, they
are stable for a long time, so it doesn't make sense to remove
existing
distributions to install a new one, that's not the spirit of UNIX.

I don't like RH, but that doesn't mean to throw overboard all my
Linux system and spend three weeks retuning all my system. I prefer to
discover new things every day, rather than rediscover the discovered.

Please reply me directly, I'm not currently in this list, ...,
the volume is too high for my phone bills.

Regards/Saludos
Manolo

 3) If something doesn't work, forget about it for the time being and move on

that was the first place i looked, but it's not where the GNU comes from :)

  What's so offensive about GNU/Linux?

The politics of it :) The general idea behind it is something like The
contributions of GNU are almost/as/more important than linux, which is
just the kernel, and GNU should get credit; there would be no system
 without gnu, etc.

frankly, I prefer the BSD utilities, and dislike nearly everything all
of the gnu changes: excessively long option names, info/hostility to
man, etc. And i generally prefer the way the bsd versions operate on
those where i've noticed a difference.

But it comes down to GNU/Linux being a political statement, and one
 that I disagree with.

I don't like GNU either. They're unnecessary complex most of the
times, and they're too worried about imposing their own standards to
others. Scheme-Guile, Lisp -elisp , Linux- Hurd. And their
copyright notice is awful! But... I use emacs, and other nice GNUish
software everyday :)).

Wrong configuration of tkinter in python

1998-12-14 Thread Manuel Gutierrez Algaba

I've got this message when I try to do
python dialog.py in the Demo/tkinter/guido :

XIO: fatal IO error 0 (Unknown error) on X server :0.0
after 53 requests (51 known processed) with 0 events remaining

I use the tk8.0 and tcl8.0 that comes in Debian 2.0 .

I suspect that this is related to xdm and xauth, but I don't know
exactly what to do. Please help me!
