 Check that the tun module is loaded (lsmod will tell you, modprobe tun

[ask] avoid conflict between 2 same usb modem

hi guys,
i have 2 same 3g modem. i install the linux driver from the modem
storage. if i plug the first modem into pc's usb, the 8 devices links
will appear as below:

crw-rw 1 root root 188, 2 May 17 21:30 /dev/ttyUSB_utps_pcui

when the i plug the second modem into pc'usb, the same device links
will appear and also will overide for ttyUSB_utps_diag,
ttyUSB_utps_modem, and ttyUSB_utps_pcui. the rest are ttyUSB5,
ttyUSB6, ttyUSB7,ttyUSB8, ttyUSB9.
if i used ttyUSB_utps_modem in a program, the device will be conflict
because the second modem is attached to the pc.
how should i manage this in order to avoid such that conflict?

problem with kannada, khmer, telugu fonts

i have some problems with these three fonts. i've installed
ttf-kannada-fonts, ttf-telugu-fonts, and ttf-khmeros, but i can't see
their respective characters on my konsole. they printed like many
squares on my konsole.
how can i solve this?

 I've added an exit to the awk script since after the action is executed,

 make sense to terminate early.

 cat input |  is not needed - it's a useless use of cat, but I don't
 know if you have it here as a representation of a more complex pipeline
 that is not relevant to your question. If you are literally using
 cat input | , you can replace it with either:

`cat`. i use such a more complex pipeline (about 5) and put the
outputs to an array.

I get a difficulty to produce the desired output using awk. i want to
use for loop bash variable as the input to the awk variable
here is the illustrated input:

line_2
line_3
line_4
line_5
line_6
line_7
line_8
line_9
line_10

here is the desired output:
line_1
line_2
line_3

here is what i do:
cat input | for (( i=1;i=3;i++ )); do gawk -v var=$i 'NR == var { print}'; done

but, the result is always:
line_1

 You're asking awk to read lines from a file, so you need to give the
 file over to awk.  The above gives you the output you're looking for.
 The bash portion of your script (the loop) and the -v var portion of

 The computer is a Dell desktop on which I have loaded Squeeze and
 Gnome. I've seen this type of outburst from this computer before, but

6.0.5-amd64. I did the fresh install today. Install some application,

 I would report at Debian BTS.

 Meanwhile, for testing purposes, you can get a new kernel (from the
 backports or by self-compiling sources in kernel.org), install in
 paralell and check if the problem persists.

 could nominate an area of the screen instead of just resolution tied to a
 particular window.

 Screenscrapes don't include the cursor - I tried the precompiled deb
 package and noticed that the cursor shown in the scrapes is *not* the one I
 actually use - so I replaced the image of a cursor used by skreener with one
 of my actual image (using the original cursor image as a template). Problem
 solved. So I'm 'assuming' your compile either didn't include, the path, or,
 the actual image (of the cursor).

 Check to see if exists:-
 /usr/share/kde4/apps/skreener/**cursors/cursor.png

 If it's missing, create the directory and insert the attached image there.

 To be sure there is a problem with the VGA card you may want to plug it
 into another computer and see how it goes. If system also freezes or you
 get an unexpected behaviour, then just say bye! to the card and give it
 a good retirement :-)

everything. The old graphic card (GeForce 6600LE) already broken I think. I
don't have any problem with my display again. I figured it out a week ago.
I'm sorry I was late to  tell you. I have a question: Is there a way for
kernel  be able to tell user about hardware failure like this? I don't see
any error message in /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog in time between
the freeze and reboot again. It just said like this,  System is
restarting, or System is shutting down. It didn't say anything about
freeze state messages.

 into your KDM and are using the machine, or *before* - i.e. preventing you
 from logging on in the first place.  If the latter, then please see my posts

in KDE display manager, my screen suddenly got froze. I can't move my

lock lamp wasn't responding. I had to reset my PC, then selecting the same
OS to boot, and then I happened again after that. It happened like this:
BOOT -- X-SESSION -- FREEZE -- RESET -- REBOOT -- X-SESSION -- FREEZE

Here are my specifications:
OS : Debian Squeeze
my kernel : 2.6.32-5-686
my VGA card : GeForce 6600 LE
my video driver : NVRM: loading NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module  195.36.31

It frequently happens after i installed my video driver using NVIDIA kernel
module 195.36.31. When I used nouveau driver, same thing happened again. Is
that a OS problem or hardware problem? I'm sick about this endless freeze.
