Re: how to configure the networks card in RedHat
Hi, Montefin: After run netstat -rn: I get the following information: kernel IP routing table: Destination Gateway GenmaskFlags Mss Windows 127.0.0.00.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 U 0 o irtt Iface 0 lo My netrorks card is D-link, but when i install it I use NE2000 compatible to configure it and it works. From the above information, it seems that I don't give the correct gateway, right? But I have check the network at /etc/sysconfig/ I can find the gateway exist there. Any Suggestion? Thanks a lot! Nianwei --- montefin [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi Nianwei, Ok, then the answer to the first question is no. You 'activate' eth0. Save it. Quit the Network Configuration window, close the control-panel. But when you go right back it reads 'inactive' again. Right? I don't know if I'll be able to help, but I'll try. First, type the following netstat -rn and hit ENTER. Email me back what prints out on the screen. Also, let me know what ethernet card and which driver you have installed. Ok? montefin Nianwei Xing wrote: Hi, Montefin: Thanks for your information. However, after I try all of the things you mentioned. It still doesn't work. Even after I active the eth0 and save and quit the network configuration and when I enter it again, it becomes inactive (without boot). I just wonder that whether or not the linux detect my networks card, however, I install it through ftp. Any suggestion? Thanks a lot! Nianwei --- montefin [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Nianwei, Sorry, I forgot to mention that in order to select those two options... 1.) 'Activate interface at boot time.' and 2.) 'Allow any user to (de)activate interface.' You must be in the Network Configuration Interfaces window AND highlight the interface you want to affect AND click 'Edit'. That brings up another window called 'Edit Ethernet/Bus Interface' where you will see those 2 options. Then click the 'Done' button in 'Edit Ethernet/Bus Interface' window, then click the 'Save' button in the Interfaces window. Then click the 'Quit' button and you are finished. That's what I want to know. Sorry for I didn't tell the details of my problem. So do you know how to handle it? You don't have execution permissions on the file. The remedy is 'chmod u+x a.out' 2. You really generated an a.out but have no support in the kernel Hmm... somehow I doubt this... 2. I can not use add bookmark in my netscape, however, there is the file bookmark.html exist under the directory ./netscape under my home directory. How can I handle this situation? Check that you have write permissions on that file and directory. Does netscape read the file if you point it to it ?
