An error has occurred while loading `/home/csanyipal/.emacs':

error: "Language environment not defined: \"Hungarian\""

I red here:
http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Euro-Char-Support/x79.html
the following:
"Note that you cannot write Euro characters. You can only see them."

So, I can see the euro character in Emacs, but can't write them in
urxvt, nor in emacs, but only in Openoffice Writer.

I use the Hungarian keyboard qwertz.

Can you, Pavel, write the euro character in your Emacs?

GNU Emacs 21.4.1 and euro symbol

2007-11-08 Thread Pál Csányi
Hello!

I try to set up my Debian Etch system so I can to write the euro symbol in the
GNU Emacs version 21.4.1.

I red the documentation here:

but can't find the solution for my problem.

I have a Hungaryan keyboard and I can to write the euro symbol in
OpenOffice Writer, but can't in rxvt (xterm) nor in Emacs.

What is the solution for this problem?

Any advices will be appreciated!

|   |

desktop server
Debian Etch Debian Etch

I can connect from the PC box-1 to the internet,
but can't connect from LAN & from DMZ to the internet.

I use shorewall on all boxes, but even when I do
shorewall clear on all boxes, I still can't to connect to the
internet from LAN & DMZ.

On the firewall/gateway I have dhcp server which give
IP addresses to box-2 & box-3.

I set up on both box-2 & box-3 the dhcp client to get the
domain-name-servers, and have these servers in resolv.conf.

What is missing here to get the connection to the internet
from LAN & DMZ?

Any advices will be appreciated!

I use Shorewall which is a script that run at boot time and call

Yes, but for me Emacs is an interesting editor that I want to use in

I installed python docs already on my Etch system.

Also I try DrPython package (editor for python).

I was subscribed to stumpwm list and get an instruction how to start stumpwm:
->
Have you read /usr/share/doc/stumpwm/README.Debian [3]? It contains
information about how to start StumpWM.
-<
->
There's an open Debian bug about how to start StumpWM for CL newbies,
it's bug #356948 [4].  As you can read at [5], I'm working on a
solution for bug #356948 and a new Debian package is expected in the
next two weeks.

[4] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=356948
[5] http://common-lisp.net/pipermail/cl-debian/2007-July/002634.html
-<
->
If you want to start StumpWM from Emacs (which is not my advice),
fire-up SLIME and then give only the two last commands:

  * (asdf:oos 'asdf:load-op 'stumpwm)
  * (stumpwm:stumpwm)

My advice is to start the swank in ~/.stumpwmrc. Then once StumpWM
has started you can launch Emacs and connect to the running StumpWM
from SLIME with `slime-connect'.

Howewer, because I'm CL newbie, I can't to start stumpwm on Debian Etch.

If you use aptitude, or synaptic then you must to manually select
there packages you want to purge. After you have purged those
packages, you should to purge orphaned packages, I think. For this you
may to use 'sudo aptitude purge $(deborphan)' command.

Just in any case, if you have stumpwm installed from CVS on Debian,
how can you uninstall (purge) it? (For case if the Debian stumpwm

nvidia driver and dual core CPUs

2007-09-20 Thread Pál Csányi
Hello!

My system is Debian GNU/Linux Etch, with linux-image-2.6.18-5-686.

I have CPU LGA775, Intel Core 2 Duo E 6320,
and I use nvidia driver to get X Window system
with my MSI nVidia NX7600GT-T2D256E PCI-E video card.

The X randomly freeze so I start to search the cause of that problem
on the Internet.

I find an open issue here:
http://www.nvidia.com/docs/IO/37395/93.71_open.pdf

that indicates that maybe this is the cause of my problem.

Here I red this on the 3. page:
--->
There may be intermittent application compatibility issues with dual core CPUs.

If you experience this issue, first make sure you have downloaded and
installed the dual core patches from your CPU manufacturer and from
Microsoft. The Microsoft knowledge base article is available
at:http://support.microsoft.com/?id=896256.

If you still experience problems you can attempt to work around these
by toggling off
 NVIDIA's multithread optimizations using the following instructions:
 1 Launch regedit and ...
 2 Look in
 HKey_Local_Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{GUID}\

I don't know whereof told abowe but I think that that I shell to pass
a kernel parameter in the grub menu.lst to disable multithreading in
the driver for all OpenGL applications, right?

How can I do that on my system?

Are there some patches for the dual core CPU for the linux-image-2.6.18-5-686?

Any advices will be appreciated!

I did so.

Now I use "nvidia" driver again and can to login to X Window.

(II) Loading extension GLX

Yes, I did.

I reinstalled the "xserver-xorg" package.

I reverted too to the "nv" driver and I have no crash so far, but
some application just can't to start.

I get the error message on xterm window:

$ /usr/brlcad/bin/mged
Initializing and backgrounding, please wait...Xlib: extension "GLX"
missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
ogl_open: Can't get an appropriate visual.
Done

$ neverputt
neverputt: Couldn't find matching GLX visual

Any advices?
