emacs, vi, jed, pico.basically all of them provided you know the magic
keystrokes. Also, if you're running on the console and have gpm working,
you already have X-like copy-paste on the text consoles.

Multi-tasking

1998-04-09 Thread Pete Poff
Is there a way I can multi-task in debian? Like with Win95, you can
open two programs and switch between them. I compare files, and it would
make my life easier if I could switch between two files, rather then
editing it, looking at a section, quiting, then editing and comparing it
with the other. I use pico when I edit the files.

Unarj

Hi,
well, I had someone download a large file and make it smaller for
me. They used ARJ to split it up, and I read on the debian ftp site that
there is only ARJ for MS-DOS. I have gotten unarj, and can't find out
how to unarj it. It's in 10 different files, and I need to put then into
one again, how do I do this? If I try to unarj each file at a time, it
says that file is already there.

Re: Script Files

1997-03-07 Thread Pete Poff
Kendrick,
thanks for you help, but before I got your message, I found and
installed the csh shell. I got rid of the error message when trying to
run it, but when I do, it just dumps a core and doesn't work. I don't
know why but, could be because I compiled it on a different system then
moved it over compiled. I'm going to get the gcc compiler on my computer
then recompile it and try again. I have the mud on-line now, it's on an
account I pay for, it's telnet.cyberconinc.com 4000.

Thanks and if I don't get it working, I may ask a few more questions.

Minicom again

1997-03-07 Thread Pete Poff
 Hi,
the problem I am having is this. When I try to download, it
gives the message, Press any key to download or Alt-C to quit. I do and
it lagges for about 1-2 minutes, then goes back to the site I was on. I
check to see if the file is there and it isn't. When I download from
MS-DOS it displays a message that tells me how much longer I have until
is done. I don't know of minicom has something like this, but if it
does, it's not showing one. I'm going to try to see if I got the rz or
 whatever with minicom.
